Very cute
I bought this to open up conversations about stopping thumb-sucking for my 3-year-old. She loved the book. We read it probably 12 times the first time I showed it to her, and she asked to sleep with the book. Approaches thumb sucking logically and “thumbs up brown bear” is more of a positive affirmation reminder than a scold, which I appreciate.

Cute, fun book about thumb sucking
We originally purchased this book for our 2.5yo who continuously sucks her thumb. She loves books, so she was happy to read this book every night in an attempt to stop sucking her thumb. We now just need to say, "thumbs up" and she will stop sucking her thumb. She hasn't stopped completely, but she definitely relates to the book, and it's a cute story. The pictures are big and bright and easy to look at.

Two thumbs up for Thumbs Up, Brown Bear!
My 4.5 year old has been a thumbsucker since birth. We never really worried about it and figured she'd grow out of it when she was older - from 2.5, she would only do it at night or at naptime, so it wasn't a constant occurrence. That was fine, until a month ago, when she had a bad eczema flare-up on her hands that required a topical steroid. Thumb sucking became a no-no, and I panicked. I bought this book and some bitter nail polish. The nail polish didn't seem to help, but this book? Totally worked. She now self-corrects whenever she gets the urge, and throws both hands up and says, "Thumbs up, Brown Bear!" The book is so sweet, and my daughter loves that Brown Bear has a little stuffed bear just like she does. She can read the book by herself now, as the rhythm and repetition are perfect for early readers. Definitely will now recommend to anyone with a thumb sucking kid.

Short & sweet
A great message as we are working on breaking the thumb sucking habit.. This is a helpful concept! It’s a very short story, FYI

Cute and simple book; but it helps.
My 5 year old has just started the process of stopping sucking her thumb. We tried when she was 3 with no luck and then the pandemic hit and anything to help calm and sooth her was good with me. I wish that I had know about this book earlier. It is super simple and cute, but it gets the point across. It won't stop the sucking on its own, but it gives us a way to talk about it. I change the brother in the book to a sister because I have two girls and when I see my youngest going for her thumb i say, "thumbs up, Brown Bear." and she is aware. I would buy this book again and highly recommend it.

Little too Young for my 3 year old
If you have an older thumb sucker this book is probably not for you. I found the content a little too young for my 3 year old. Very cute book probably good for a 1 or maybe even 2 year old but too basic for a 3 year old.
