Edifier USA Aurora Speaker System for PC, MP3 Players, and iPod (Stormy Black)

Very well designed and constructed product, but the sound falls short of the bass response boasted about by Edifier and several purchasers.However - These do not sound bad - in fact the sound reproduction is pretty accurate above about 100Hz. These don't deliver booming bass response, but for the tiny little sub-woofer - not too shabby. The low frequencies are just a bit weak. As a comparison, I normally travel with a pair of Bose companion 2 (a 2.0 speaker system, no sub) and think that the perceived sound of the Bose is in someways superior to the edifier Aurora for the same price. The bass on the Bose is probably not as low of a frequency, but Bose uses so much equalization to artificially enhance the sound of their speakers it comes accrss as sounding pretty good. However, I also think that the Aurora speakers have a more "pure" sound, without the sometimes cartoonish frequency boosts in the Bose speakers. Also, the Aurora is slightly more portable. The stereo imaging is also more "natural" with the Aurora. I think that I like it... I do not hear any distortion, another plus. The amplifier seems to be well designed and well suited to the speakers.Others have commented that the spacing is a bit too short between the speakers - I completely concur with that assessment. It is possible to modify with some solder and some wire, but why should one have to do that? Another 0.5 meters would have been really nice, Edifier... Darn it...I can't tell you what to do with your money. I can tell you that I was very slightly disappointed at the price / performance ratio at $100. Maybe a bit overpriced, but they do sound really good. And, I would probably buy them again. My advice is to audition these if you are able. They really do well with Classical music, me thinks.An update after several months of use - I have these guys for somehting like 4 months, and like them better the longer is listen to them. That cannot be said about every speaker out there. At times, I am astonished at the high quality of the sound reproduction. Therefore I have raised my rating to 5 stars. It is suiting. These Edifier dudes have done their job well. As fo my earlier remark about the bass, I do not fell that way after some more use. I have found that the placement / surface position of the sub can influence this quite a bit. It may just be a trick of perception (feeling the vibration more), but if the sub is on a solid surface, in close contact (absolutley no isolation like a notebook or something) the bass response is actually pretty impressive. From this tiny little sub - no way, I keep saying.The bass is surprisingly good. How good, you may ask? Well ask away brother (or sister)! Let me give you an example - the song "Nardis" by the Bill Evans trio (from the excellent 1961 album "Explorations") has this fantastic pristine, clear sound to it. The bass is simply outstanding (Scott LaFaro) and is a challenge for many speakers (and headphones) to handle "nicely". These little Edifiers handle this really well - much better than the Bose. It is really impressive. Have I changed my opinion about the price? Nah, not really - for the market, the price is line. I still hate to spend 100 bills for travel speakers. I guess that since I would buy these again if lost them, I feel that they are worth the price.I still can't tell you what to do with your money. I can say that after living with these for a few months that I strongly recommend these speaker. I also strongly recommend that you listen to your wife / mother / both when they are angry. That's free advice.

I got this system for Christmas and overall I rate it about a 7 out of 10 but for the price it is a 10. I don't have anything specific that I would say makes is bad at all. It does the job it is supposed to do and does it well. I don't need anything more for my computer for when I am working but I know there are other speaker systems that cost far more that are probably better. No need to spend that kind of money. This system does EVERYTHING I need it do well.

I'm so surprised by the sound quality of the Edifier speaker.

I wish Edifier would start stocking these again. These are very hard to find now. They're great at the $50 price point I bought them at, and two friends each bought them after hearing them. I use them at my home office behind my monitor. Great sound IF you're sitting at your desk, but not designed to fill a room. Two nits: (1) ditch the proprietary cables. It would be nice to be able to extend the length between speakers and not worry about proprietary cables going bad, and (2) for portability, why not allow the satellites to screw into the ends of the subwoofer? This would be easier if the cables were detachable as per (1).

The media could not be loaded.  Generalmente no comento mucho en las cosas que me gustaron, pero por respeto y merecimiento a estas bocinas y sus creadores lo haré.Primero... son perfectas para el consultorio (5x4 metros y 4 metros de altura).El sonido, es BASTANTE impresionante para el tamaño que tienen, hay cero distorsión incluso en máximo volumen (el video q mandé probablemente por el micrófono del celular se escucha poco distorsión).La claridad del audio en volumen alto supera a la bocinita bosé, la Pill y prácticamente cualquier bocina-mini bocina o bocinas de computadora del mismo tamaño o de menos de 2500-3000 pesos.Las recomiendo altamente para quienes busquen bocinas en oficina, bocinas portátiles para lap, ipad, etc, incluso ver películas en una pc de escritorio en lugares no debas hacer escándalos.10/10 por el precio, creo que es una de las mejores compras que hice en el año y honestamente no creo que existan unas bocinas a este precio que tengan la calidad de audio que tienen estas. Mis respetos.No las recomiendo para gamers q busquen un 2.1, ni para gente q escuche hiphop muy fuerte esperando un “bajo intenso” no es posible por el tamaño del woofer, en ninguna bocina, compren uno de al menos 8”.

Excelentes bocinas Edifier estas si son portátiles por su tamaño y porque incluye un maletín para transportarlas, y lo sorprendente es su sonido para su tamaño, es claro y potente con sus graves, por otra parte su diseño me encanto, se recomiendan ampliamente, el vendedor atento y puntual con la entrega.
