Flotow: Marpa / Wallberg,Popp

I discovered the opera Martha more than 30 years ago. It was the first opera I ever knew, the first opera recording I ever purchased, and my favorite opera for decades; but I only ever knew one recording of it. I just found this version on Amazon and I am thrilled with it. The music is beautiful. I’m playing it over and over.

i got this bcos i was able to hear parts of it before i purchased it. the music & singing is delightful. you can find here the 2 famous arias, the last rose of summer sung by lucia popp, & ach! so fromm, by siegfried jerusalem. very in the style of webber, but full of beautiful ensembles, no dialogs here (don't know if it was meant like that or recorded like this to make it bareable). beautiful voices all over. the sound is great. the recording from 1977. if you can get it for $5+ as i saw in the listing of vendors, is really worth.
