Rockwell Hardness 68
It is supposed to have a Rockwell hardness of 68, and I can confirm it will curl a beautifully wicked burr on your turning tools, card scrapers, and blades. Make sure you research to confirm proper technique so that you don't make more work for yourself. However, should it bother me that it was mounted crooked in the handle like many of the other comments have stated? Probably not. It does bug me though, as petty as that seems. I'm told that Crown is a highly respected and quality brand, yet their pleb-tier mounting into handles has me suspicious. The vendor, Taylor Toolworks, did a great job.

Poor Quality Control
I ordered two of these and sent both back. As a few other experienced the shaft was not inserted straight into the handle. Additionally, the finish on the handles of the two I received were not the greatest with rough patches as if it had been stained, set on something to dry then the stain bonded to that surface and it was pulled off but not cleaned up or sanded off. Just pretty dissapointed overall in the lack of quality control. I decided not to try a 3rd time and ordered one from DMT for a little bit more that was on back order but is now back in stock. I have many years of woodworking ahead of me and don't mind the extra money for something that hopefully will have a better fit and finish. The burnisher probably works fine from a functional standpoint.

A quality product from a respected brand.
I moved up from burnishing my card scrapers on a screwdriver to this fine tool. In selecting the tool on Amazon I reflected on the Crown brand wooden mallets my wife had given me. The quality of those tools gave me the confidence to pay a couple of dollars more for the Crown burnishing tool versus another well regarded brand scraper burnisher. One thing I've learned building my tool assortment is I've rarely been disappointed when buying quality brands. I am very pleased with the performance of my new burnishing tool and expect it to be one I pass down to the next generation.

And it has a crooked handle- Update
Seems to do the job on scrapers but it has a couple problems. Maybe I’m just being picky but the ferrule and handle are installed crooked. I know it’s only a 20$ tool but that kind of stuff bothers me. Those problems dont effect function but if you’re gunna sell a tool make sure its assembled properly. Not bad enough to send back but bad enough to make me look to other brands.—Update as of 11 Apr 18.The seller gave me a refund because of the quality problems with the burnisher. I’ll give them a solid 5 stars as I wasn’t expecting that. I’m not so sure about Crown tools now, but this seller (Lund Global) is top notch!

Crown Hand Tools Super Hard Cryogenicly Treated Burnisher
As a "Heirloom Quality" Custom Woodworker for 30+ years I have used MANY types of scrapers and burnishers to keep my scraper sharp, this High Quality tool from Crown Tools is just the tool for keeping my Burnisher sharp, the fact that it is cryogenicly treated is what I believe makes the difference, Crown has a long history of good quality tools
