An excellent resource for anyone planning a market garden
As a gardener who embraces no-till, organic methods and is planning for market growing, I found this to be an excellent book. It covers processes and methodologies from soil preparation to marketing. The only criticism I found is that the book dives deeply into soil science very early, which was somewhat overwhelming. But that just means I'll need to go back and study more carefully. Overall the book is written well, is based largely on the author's personal experience, and can be helpful for anyone wanting to develop their garden using more natural methodologies.

Great resource
Wow I didn’t think I would love or need this book as much as I have. It’s a great resource with loads of info that isn’t just filled with “fluff” to make the book seem like you are getting some book. The book is well written and too the point making each page valuable. Well worth the purchase!

Well done
This made for an interesting read. I have areas on our small farm that I can see converting to no till. I liked how the live in workers and community aspects of the farm dynamic work. This was well worth looking into .

Comprehensive, Indispensable Resource for Home and Market Gardeners
If you are a serious home gardener or farmer, don't hesitate for a minute: buy this book. Mays has crafted a stunning guide from start to finish--farm/land acquisition, business planning, crop planning, bed prep, seed starting, harvesting, marketing, cover cropping, weed suppression, and more. Beautifully written and illustrated, the book will make you long for the planting season to begin, but there is plenty to mull during winter planning months. Having made a healthy profit over the past decade farming 2.5 acres of vegetables, Mays shares his approach so clearly that any grower--urban, suburban, or rural--could follow his lead to make a living growing nourishing food. The no till approach builds soil health (which humans can't survive without), sequesters carbon (a climate solution), grows phenomenal vegetables, and strengthens the local economy. I have visited Frith Farm, and I don't think words can capture its beauty or the richness of the soil he has built. I bought extra copies to give away...Every farmer in the world should read this book.

Great information, worth buying
Ok, so personal opinion from a 40+ year home gardener. IF you can get past all the “climate change is man made” propaganda of the first couple of chapters, this book has a lot of great information. It is written in easy to understand terms and will be easy for a new or new to market farming layman.

One of my favorites
Quality pictures with very useful information from a successful market gardener/farmer. This book constantly finds itself lying around random spots throughout my house due to the fact I am always referencing it. The price is also very reasonable for the information you receive.

Packed with helpful info
I found this book super helpful. It is packed with thorough explanations about soil health and no-till practices that will help me up my no-till game, and understand how to make smart changes, and why I am doing things. Definitely going on the reference shelf to keep for a long time. The level of information in this book might be a little intimidating if you're brand new to no-till farming, but the good news there is that there's a lot of great introduction-to-no-till books you could read first.

On y apprend beaucoup.

Not for the backyard gardener
Very nice book, but to my deception (my fault for not reading the white letter text in the title)This book is more about business scale and not to the backyard gardener that i am. Ive still learned useful things but, maybe 2/3 of the book wasn’t useful for me.
