Affordable, reliable, and definitely worth it!

This might be the best thing I purchased in the entire month of September 2024. Five stars simply are not enough. We suspected we had mold elsewhere in our apartment after finding it in our bathroom and this test confirmed it. It was extremely easy to set up and use - the instructions are so easy to follow, even someone who definitely did not win any best in class biology awards in high school (like myself) can feel confident that they did the test correctly. I believe the speed in which mold grows if the test was exposed to mold via the air or your swab from a surface depends on the type/how much mold is in the testing environment. After 24 hours, a few bubbles had formed but nothing major. I went to bed that night and overnight the colors showed up. The noise that came out of me was inhumane and probably scared my neighbors for life (sorry team), but in that moment I felt so validated and finally had peace of mind. I’d been sick all summer with classic mold toxicity symptoms and after finding the spot in our bathroom a few weeks prior, I knew what was wrong with me. I would’ve paid 5x the amount I spent on these tests - these are priced well so that paranoid folks like myself can buy several to test different rooms. The price also makes mold testing accessible to those who might not be able to otherwise afford to test for mold. I will definitely be ordering again this summer to retest for growth in our bathroom.

Only one kit is in a pack and the directions clearly state that to understand whether or not you have higher than normal levels of mold you need to get an indoor and outdoor reading. In fact, when you dig into mold remediation companies and mold in general you'll find that you need to basically test every area of your home at least twice and compare it to one or more outdoor samples to get a read on whether there's excess mold in your home and if it's different than what's outside. Even then, you don't know if the mold you found is benign or harmful unless you pay for a $40 test. That's fine, if you suspect an issue it's fair to have it sent to a lab for testing. The problem is that most people don't know that every home has mold in it. Some of that mold can even be the harmful kind. The trick to it all is that even with harmful mold it really won't affect you unless it is growing out of control at levels above what are considered safe, even for the harmful variety. So as a test this works fine. I found mold growing in my daughters room and it was concerning. I removed the mold with a bleach solution and then ran this test a few days later to see whether or not there was the same kind of mold and an abundance of it. I left the Petri dish out for 3 hours instead of the recommended 1 hour and after 48 hours there were 2 of the tiniest mold spots growing in it. After 96 hours there were 3 of them, I could tell they were the same type I had cleaned off the wall and none were more than the size of a quarter. This tells me that there isn't a substantial mold issue in the room and that I need to continue to monitor the area where I first found it. Again, we're back to not knowing what the baseline for the home is because you have to buy multiple kits and test outdoors to get that baseline. So I base this off of the results of others in similar rooms that I've found online. There is a 99% chance you will find mold with this test. That isn't necessarily bad. All homes have mold. You need to have a way of knowing whether there is some area that is consistently allowing mold growth, if the levels of mold growth are too high to be safe, and if the type of mold is dangerous to breathe (not all are). So be careful reading these results. The presence of mold doesn't mean you have an infestation and need remediation. All homes have mold. Best thing I could say is pay the $40 fee to get it tested to see if it's dangerous mold and even then you'll need to know whether it's consistently getting in your house and if the level of mold in the air is at a point where it's harmful to health which just can't be done without an expert coming out to test. This product is really best to give one piece of mind after they've cleaned some mold. For me it let me know that yeah, there's still mold in the air but it isn't growing on the wall where I found it anymore and after taking a sample 3 times longer than the directions asked for I still only got minor growth after waiting 4 entire days.

Purchased 4 kits. 8 bucks a kit. Followed easy instructions and placed the kits around the house. all 4 found mold. 1 kit particularly bad with a verity of growths. Up to this point all was fine. Then i tried to send it in for the labortory review. Very unclear instructions. The web site did not appear to work very well returning me to the beginning and forcing me several times to enter redundant information. zit did take my $40 right away however, I finally decided it might be a bogus site. So I tried to contact the company. Very hard to find contact info and no one replied to my repeated requests. I used the contact \ support information directly from the package so no chance of internet mis-direction. They just don't reply. I guess they just figure it's an easy $40. (lab fees they take up front with no way to cancel) They have a whole cadre of products which I would have probably purchased some, but not now. Very disappointed i guess this is how they conduct business If they ever contact me i will update the report Update 082321 Wow i got the lab report. took about a week. The reports list the verity of molds found and gives a brief description of each. It does not give you any idea of the level of exposure and since mold is everywhere it might not be that helpful. However it is what it is and it is what they said it would be. It also arrived in a reasonable (quicker than adv) time. They never did answer requests for support nor even so much as acknowledge my inquires so they get a 3 star. Little more detail on the report and some minimum of support and I'd have moved it to a 5 star.
