Carnivorous Plant Soil

Seems to be very good. To address some other comments, “highly absorbent” and “easy to get wet the first time” are not the same thing. You’ll likely need to soak this soil overnight the first time, but it’s extremely easy to keep moist after it’s wetted.

Received this item very fast. It was perfect for potting my Venus Fly Traps, such a big bag of soil and will go a long way.

Good shipping, on time. On one order, it weighed a little over and the second order, barely less in quantity. Clean looking soil, doesn't have any odd or unintended compounds or other growths. I bought this soil because my venus fly trap plants outgrew their containers. I took note of how you should rinse all soils and use a TDS meter to indicate <50ppm. It took 5 gallons of DI water to get it down to the 70ppm level. I 3D printed tall pots with a drain-catch so I could continue to monitor the water quality to indicate minimal TDS. I left the original soil plug around the rhysome so that I can top water, therefore the water would continue gravity flush the contamination over time. After mixing with perlite, I filled the pots and installed the plants. After the initial to soak, good visual absorption was noted. The plants showed very little shock the first week, but now VFT growth has exploded again. Now, over this time, the TDS reading has consistently been in the 28 to 37 range. I now put the pots in a deep water sauce so the can be bottom watered like the should be. So the take home message for who needs any soil from anyone/brand, soak and rinse BEFORE USE!!!.... AND read the tds/ppm!!!... get it below 50 at least before potting your VFTs.

Good Venus fly trap soil

Soil is fine ground and a perfect place to let my pitcher plant dpread its roots in a wider pot with new soil!

This has really worked well for my carnivorous plants.

I bought this stuff because my regular stuff was out of stock. It took a while to get to me and when it did come, it was pretty much just overpriced peat moss.
