Perfect idiot proof way to connect your OG XBOX to an HDMI TV/display.
I was one of the rare UK OG XBOX users to have the original HD A/V kits from 2002, and this meant that up until last years I was still able to hook up my OG XBOX to any TV that had component in - even my 2021 Samsung LED TV. However, I upgraded to an LG OLED this year, which only has HDMI inputs, so needed a solution. Most available adapters are just a simple cable, which I knew would be useless and probably cheap rubbish. I needed something that had both PAL and NTSC compatibility (I ran my XBOX in NTSC mode to get 1080p resolution) and also had an optical audio out in case I wanted to connect the XBOX to my vintage Creative Dolby Digital surround system. This adapter fit the bill perfectly, and was also highly recommended by the company that build my modded XBOX.Out of the box, the build quality is very nice, with the cable attached to a small metal pack that holds the HDMI and optical out ports. It supports all original XBOX resolutions from PAL 480i to 1080i, and for NTSC consoles from 480p to 1080p. It is region agnostic so doesn't care if your console is PAL or NTSC, so is ideal for PAL region users running modded consoles in NTSC.This adapter DOES NOT require a power supply. The HDMI output gives a fantastic, clear and clean image. Some reviewers have reported lines on their picture but I have nothing like that. Images are stable, bright and clean. There is no upscaling or image filtering being done by the adapter so what you get is the native console output. There is only one thing to be aware of, and this is not a shortcoming of the adapter. You will find that black levels are a little intense if you are connecting to an OLED, so some dark parts of games may be VERY dark. This is not a flaw of the adapter; rather the original XBOX was designed for CRT screens with a fixed black level. Nowadays, with LED or OLED screens, when connecting an XBOX 360, XBOX One or XBOX series console you would just change the console's HDMI reference level but that's not an option on the OG XBOX - so you will need to adjust the black levels a little on your TV for that specific HDMI input (on my LG OLED I set them from 50 to 67 in the game mode settings and it looked about right). The Optical output allows you to separate out the audio from the HDMI signal to go to a separate surround or sound system if you don't want the audio simply going to your TV, and supports Dolby Digital. If not used, audio is fed over the HDMI cable with the video signal as normal. So if you have an old XBOX and no way to hook it to your modern HDMI TV, and if you want to be able to output Dolby Digital separately to a surround system, this is a perfect and cheap way to achieve that. Strongly recommended.

MUST BUY
I was going to hdmi mod my og xbox but tried this first, absolutely made up with it, the sound and picture quality rivals the 360's, the lack of needing a power adapter Is also great, no noise nor static crisp quality for performance and value for money I have to say it's a must buy, the ease of use and installation is fantastic, great power, great performance and fantastic customer service.

Tried buying similar products and none didn’t work, except for this one the quality is great and so easy to set up. Was very satisfied 😊

Best current solution but merely Improves the image Use Mclassic for upscaled results on a modern TV
I recently bought a TSOP modded XBOX to display on a 4K OLED via an amp and this product is currently the only option to achieve 720p/1080i using these technologies. This HDMI solution does provide much higher quality than composite/component but don't expect it to upscale the 480p image. It merely improves the sharpness and color vibrancy of the source and offers higher resolutions for the games that support it. The overall image is nice and fairly crisp and there is minimal lag from what I can seeI may seem like I am being harsh but after seeing PS2 games perform at 4K native using PCSX2 on PC its hard to compare this cable. It does however provide another big plus and that is that it provides PCM digital audio which is not possible through the old school component cable and it sounds amazing in comparison. One final thing I noticed that there where very small vertical lines moving in a diagonal path when looking at the image up close. This doesn't really bother me but its something I thought was worth sharing.Overall I would reccomend this cable but if your used to emulating systems like the ps2,ps3 or Gamecube you will be slightly disappointed*Edit* for best results use this with an Mclassic cable which upscales to 1080p then put it through an amp that upscales to 4K if using a UHD display*The image looks almost as good as native 1080p in most games.

Great cable, don't know what people are complaining about.
This cable is great, the picture difference is huge compared to AV. It won't upscale your image but if you enable Ntsc video modes on your soft modded or hard modded xbox you can enable 720p and 1080i output. The output resolution is game dependant so don't expect 720p or 1080i on all games, I leave mine at 720p as a sweet spot as very few games output 1080i anyway. Either way the image is always going to be much sharper than AV cables.Only negative I have noticed is the image is a little darker, few more crushed blacks but nothing that can't be sorted by adjusting the tvs contrast and brightness a little. All in all I'm very impressed and would recommend as a HDMI option for your xbox without having to open it up and soldering in a more expensive hardware mod. This cable is a fine option at a decent price and as a added bonus doesn't require external power.

Absolute bargain and the video output is excellent for the price
I didn't expect this to be as good as it is, but it is.Very low noise and can output at 720p almost perfectly. I dont have many 1080i titles to test it on but since the internal hdmi mod is very difficult to get your hands on or you have to have it with project Stellar (unfinished product) this is a great upgrade.Obviously theres a reason why external video processors are so expensive, but this is frankly a bargain and the quality of video output from my experience is awesome.Worth every penny and some
