Works great with Sterno Firestarter gel. Better heat output and fuel utilization than the cans of Sterno “Canned Heat,” due to the bigger opening for flame. This results in better boil times when used in the Sterno Inferno stove (6:30 minutes to full rolling boil of 16 oz water, vs 15 minutes for Sterno can). Almost as good as the performance of the Trangia meths burner (seen on YouTube), but with a safer (and legal during fire season) fuel, and no risk of thermal runaway in a closed stove/windscreen

I use this tin to hold my cotton ball/petrol jelly fire starters and it works well. Well made and inexpensive multi-purpose tin. Recommend.

This product is primarily used for Camping, for gel or solid fuel type stoves and as a back up to some types of biomass stoves when biomass fuel is not available. This product aids in clean up by containing the mess of partially spent fuel.

Simple. A container to hold alcohol gel. Good kit, from a good company!

Great little container for so many things: fuel, fire starting material, first aid, change for the toll booth! The possibilities are endless.

There's not much to say. It's a little cup to put gel fuel in to use with my beloved Trangia cookset. I have not used it yet, but see no reason it won't be absolutely perfect for its intended use.I have yet to take my Trangia set camping, but I have used it many a time with power outages, including a three day power outage at the beginning of February. Portland, Oregon accidentally had winter, and this was my main cooking method during that time, along with a JetBoil Fash (which I would fight to the death over). The two stoves are absolute requisites for my disaster preparedness kit.

I got this to add to my Trangia set up, my thinking was that the use of gel fuels was safer than the traditional meths etc and it is. As I am starting to take my 5 year old out on day trips and the fear of him knocking over a meths burner was beyond comprehension for me. When I am on my own, it's back to the traditional burner and meths.I have tried this with BCB Fire Dragon gel and it worked well, the Dragon fuel is excellent although a more expensive than meths. I have not tried this with the BCB Fire Dragon solid fuel blocks although they will fit with out the need to cut them up smaller but I am sure that they will work just fine.Overall, this is just what I needed and I feel safer using it with the wee man running about than the meths burner.

This is way too expensive for a tin. I thought it would be a bit more heavy duty than it is, especially for the cost. It also burns more gel than my titanium alcohol burner which I use with gel. It uses twice as much gel to boil the same amount of water, maybe because it has a larger surface area.I've given it 1 star because it fits a trangia hole, that's it's only redeeming feature. Much lighter than the spirit burner. The gel is also much lighter to pack and travel with. This also burns with less sooty deposit on the underside of the Trangia Pans. There is no way to control the heat once the gel is lit. There is no simmer ring that is on the spirit burner. Once the gel has been used the burner cools down quickly and cleaning the residue out is very easy. Will probably use this over the spirit burner now.

What can I say? It's a tin for burning gel and does that very well. And it fits in the hole for the spiritburner in the Trangia.

Whilst this is listed as the Trangia Saucepan it is in fact the Trangia Gel Burner (which is what i was after.) Other than the incorrect description, it complements my Trangia stove and allows me to use Gel for my cooking set. It arrived quickly and includes a lid.
