Best in bolt action pens.
This refill works perfectly if you have a bolt action pen. I made the mistake of using the ballpoint refills but they don't work as well with bolt action.

I bought extra refills when I bought my pen. Great line width, smooth & bold writing. Love the refills. Only downside is I have to constantly guard my Bastion Ti pen...it keeps trying to " escape" in coworkers' pockets.

Love me a good Caran d'Ache pen. My dad buys the limited editions pens throughout the year and gifts them to family. I have several of them and needed black ink for work (rather than the blue they come with). No scratching or smudging. Comfortable writing.

Ink cuts out while writing
While writing with this refill the ink cuts out half way through words. Not sure why.
