Excellent Serger for All Sewing Needs!
The SINGER X5004-HD is a fantastic serger! It handles 2-4 threads effortlessly, offers 8 built-in stitches, and sews at 1300 SPM for fast, professional results. The adjustable differential feed prevents fabric puckering, and the LED lights improve visibility. Durable, user-friendly, and great for all skill levels—highly recommended!

Great serger, manual is easy to find despite other reviews.
Initially I thought it had been used because it came prethreaded but they do that for convenience. It also came with some canvas to practice on. There’s no manual, just a slip of paper saying where to find it. I did a search for singer x5004 and it came right up. The equivalent on singers website is 14HD854. Some other reviews mentioned that they couldn’t find the manual or the machine on singers website but it’s for sure there. Anyway it works great, seems like it would work on thicker fabrics as well as thin ones. As with any serger it’s a pain to thread but it comes color coded and with the included tweezers it’s not terrible. Overall good for the price!

So far very happy
Have been using it for about two weeks every chance I have after work and in weekends. The instructions can be downloaded and they are easy to follow, I still followed a youtube video to make sure, because I have never used a serger, I just recently started to sew as a hobby. It has been working wonderfull, I'm very happy with this purchase. About the noise I don't think it makes much noise, but I have only the regular sewing machine to compare it with and I think they both make about as much noise, seems normal to me. I've bought multipurpose maxi lock thread and so far I have only had to thread it once. I figure so far I have had about 8 hours of efective sewing use so I will be oiling it next time I use it since I have read sergers need more maintenance than regular sewing machines.

pretty solid machine!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I bought this serger as a panic buy when my other serger broke and needed to be repaired. I do alterations professionally and needed to have a functioning serger right away. Amazon could get this one to me overnight. I honestly wasn't expecting much from it, but figured it would be good enough in a pinch. Hey, I'm still using it, now I just have two sergers! It does get cranky if it's too thick, so I do question the "heavy duty" aspect, but overall it's a solid basic serger.

Serging larger than napkins?
I am an avid sewer. 3-5 hours a day for 40 years. I make dress shirts, leather and suede jackets, upholster furniture. Yep, I love sewing. This is the best serger I’ve owned. Past models (worn out) were Bernina and Juki. This one is quieter, ready to go out of the box, no extra goodies to buy. Threading sergers is never easy, but you don’t need an instruction book for this one. The only problem I encountered is the dinky scrap bag. EASY FIX! I cut the bottom off the bag, pinned on a placemat to form a chute directly into the trash can. Happy old lady! See photo.

Great little serger for the price
Great product. The HD Series from Singer just works. It would be nice if they added air threading as manual threading is a pain, but it does work and works well for basic projects. Very easy to setup and the instructions are clear. Plus there are a ton of videos on YT to help with setup and confirmation of the serger.

Too hard to set up the stitches for different fabrics.
I grew up around Singer, but when started sewing bought Brother because it is cheaper, still own 2. But replacing my last Serger was an ordeal, had to return 2, one the thread from the needles tangled and the front cover broke. The second, one month after fighting to make a good loop and sew I read reviews that was a current problem for everyone, plus had an awful inside noise, so... returned as well. Will not try a Chinese Brother again. Decided to spend a little more and bought this Singer. Was amazed that it didn't come threaded and no instructions booklet, no additional foot, and just a brush. Printed the instructions from internet, and checked videos for the threading. Slightless user friendly than Brother. But this is sturdy, doesn't dance all around the table. Sits well and I can even use the lint bag. So far is sewing wonderfully and less noisy. You can tell it's "the" brand. Hope it continues all good. Just a few days so far, will update my review if something goes wrong, for now happy with my purchase. This is made in Vietnam.Update, September 30, very frustrating can't "guess" the settings, because the booklet doesn't help, is vague and doesn't sew as expected, unfortunately the return window finished. I'm losing so much time trying to make it work. 😪
