anyone have issues installing the eye piece?

I had no problems installing the eye piece.

Does this have a case?

This does not have a cary case but does have a soft cover and lense covers.

Can an bullet trace be seen as it travels to the target?

The ability to see a bullet "trace" is an environmental factor and has nothing to do with the optics you may be looking through. I have seen this with "trace" with the the naked eye and the lowest quality of optics.

Does this scope come with an eyepiece?

Yes , the Vortex Diamondback spotting scope comes with a eyepiece
