Definitely inspiring as only Jack London can with his ability to sound as if he is challenging the reader to outdo him in a one-upmanship about sailing small boats. Although he creates images with Falstaffian gusto, unfortunately he doesn't write about the experience of sailing even smaller craft, such as an eleven-foot catboat, the Penguin class (which came later), with a following wind and squall-born seas. But I highly recommend London's collection for all who know sailing as well as they have salt water in their veins. You will truly enjoy the read.
