Grizzly IndustrialH2725 - Ratchet T-Handle Tap Wrench - Set

Ok, not great

I like Grizzly products. I have been impressed with everything I’ve purchased from them.Now, being a novice at tap & die, I did not realize that the sizing of the T-handles has NOTHING to do with the size of the head on a tap - it refers to the size of the Threads!I was looking for a T-handle which would accept a 1/2” square head on a specialty tap (for a shotgun). The description on these handles indicates the largest will accept 1/4” to 1/2” taps. It will because the square head of a 1/2” tap is only .285” on a side with a .42” shaft. Yes, that means the threading portion of the tap sticks out the sides further than the shaft.I’ll keep the ratcheting T-handles because they are good quality. Just don’t let the advertising trick you into thinking the handles are larger than they actually turned out to be.

Ratchet gearing is WAY coarse. Makes it difficult to use properly.

It’s not bad but it’s not great either. The ratcheting mechanism is hit or miss. Kind of hard to find the right place for the latch. If you need one this will work. Not the greatest I’ve ever used tho. P

These are double jaw ratcheting tap wrenches The ratcheting mechanism can be a little strange though. Compared to "regular" socket wrenches which have a twist knob, these have a three position "button". The centre position is the lock and to move it, you pull the button out and twist it left or right. It's a bit strange at first.Just a note of caution... whoever packed these didn't spare the oil. What caught me off guard was the amount of oil on the OUTSIDE of the packaging. Make sure when you open the box that you do so in a workshop environment and not at the dinner table.

These only lasted a few weeks peice of junk in my opinion

These work well. I am a little disappointed in the size, when comparing to one without the ratcheting. I have to use the largest one for a medium tap. The flip lever at the top is not my favorite location as well. I have to consciously stop and rotate the knob. It is a bit unorthodox. That said, they do work well, and I have used them several times with no issues other than those stated.
