MagLite: Still the king
Over my lifetime I've owned a lot of flashlights, and I can say that MagLite is still the king. This one fits right in the sweet spot for me in size, weight and amount of light it puts out. You can buy flashlights with insane output, they work well, they'll get hot and that's just want it is. People who are snobby about this know what I mean, but if you just want something that is durable, not too heavy and puts out more than enough light (which is entirely up to you), this is the light for you. The only change I made was to purchase a glass lens to replace the plastic one fitted to the light originally. It's a lot more clear and scratch-resistant. Amazon sells a selection of these from regular vendors. As to this grip, I've owned MagLite flashlights with the original grip style and this new one, and I like this a lot, but don't prefer one over the other. It's strictly personal taste. I would say that you can definitely buy this with the confidence that with basic care, you'll have it forever.

Well made, very fair price. You can't go wrong.
This is a very sweet little lite. Two cell, but very bright.

Bright LED, easy focus
It's a good flashlight. The two D cells give plenty of power for a bright beam, and the Maglite engineering makes for an easy twist-to-focus operation. I have D-cell and AA-cell Maglites at home and in the cars. I like the company's products. They are sturdy, and they work well, and they last forever. You may find the multiple modes in this flashlight useful. The factory default option is all I expect to use: one click of the thumb switch = high power; <click-click> = medium intensity; <click-click-click> = low intensity for longest battery life. Having turned it on with your choice of a single, double or triple click, you just need one click to turn it off. You can reset the modes to some other pattern than the factory default. For example, you can opt to have a strobe light, or a single bright pulse, among the actions. The instructions are provided, and it would not take long to adjust the modes... but I'll be honest, I will never remember HOW to switch modes, and I'm not going to keep the instructions by the flashlight to remind me. I suppose if I ever do want this Maglite to be a strobe, I'll look it up online.

Father’s Day gift
A bright idea for Father’s Day. Works good, plenty bright, quick adjust beam, and made in USA.

Maglite ML
This is a solid, heavy-duty Maglite flashlight with an excellent feel and high-quality construction. I own an identical one that I bought about four years ago, and it has held up extremely well—even after being dropped many times. Very tough, durable, and reliable. A+ rating. I would definitely buy it again.

Excellent choice for a long term power outage or general family use
OK, I just got this flashlight a few days ago so I don't have any long term experience with it. But as a flashaholic I have a lot of knowledge about flashlights in general (after collecting at least 50 high end flashlights including Surefire, Fenix, Nitecore, Olight, etc). You get the picture. This Maglite would be an excellent choice for a family flashlight or for a long term power outage scenario. I wanted this light specifically because it uses D cell batteries. You can find those batteries anywhere (which isn't true of 18650 batteries, RCR-123's, various IMR batteries, etc.). Plus D cells are relatively cheap and they pack a lot of amps into one battery which means your light will last a long time before you need to replace the batteries. This light excels at throw and it has a pretty decent spill as well. Even on the eco mode the throw is impressive. The throw to spill ratio is adjustable by twisting the head but there isn't a huge amount of variance by doing this. I just keep my light on maximum throw since that is the way I am using it right now. But it's nice to know I can increase the spill if necessary. Going from high to low ("eco" mode) takes a little practice. The light comes on in high and you have to click the switch quickly to go through the modes. If you are too slow your second click will turn the light off. This just takes a little practice and it's not really a big issue. You can configure the light a couple of different ways. I didn't need the strobe feature so I just left the light with the default factory settings. If you decide to buy this light let me make a couple of other recommendations: I bought a couple of low discharge 8,000 mAh NiMh D cells to go with this light. Be sure to get NiMh batteries with a low discharge rate because low discharge high amperage batteries are supposed to hold 80% of their power over one year of storage. You should also consider getting a battery charger that has both AC and DC charging capabilities. That's important if you want to be able to charge your flashlight from your car battery if the power goes out for a long period of time. I also recommend you buy a battery tester (usually less than $10), and last but not least - the Maglite accessory kit. The accessory kit has a mounting bracket, anti-roll collar, and some lenses. The anti-roll collar may be important if you are careless with your light. This flashlight is only rated for a 1 meter fall so it might survive a roll off your kitchen counter but not much higher than that. The accessory kit is cheap and you will not regret spending the money. Overall I think this is an excellent flashlight for general use and a very good item for preppers or anyone wanting a flashlight with a long battery life. Get this light - you won't be disappointed.

Nice compact maglite
Maglite is compact and light. Nice construction. Its a little bit pricey for a small maglite. Would like to have as well 3 D maglite in this model. Prefer the traditional turn on button on the front rather on the bottom of the flashlight especially for bigger size. Like the feel of the switch to turn on lights. It seems to be soft. Delivery was at appropriate time. Arrived just in time for use in travel. Would be nice if Nite Ize still makes the grip N clip as this would be hard to hold on during winter time due to metal construction. Overall satisfied with the purchase.
