ARIANA COLLECTION by Bloem: The Ariana planter will quickly become one of your favorite pots because it helps keep your plants from drying out and will reduce the time you spend watering. Inside the planter there is a hidden reservoir located at the bottom of your pot and holds approx. 1”-3.5” (depending on planter size) of water. This self-watering insert keeps dirt and roots above the hidden reservoir while constantly providing healthy “greenhouse-like” moisture through the evaporation process. How a Self-Watering Planter Works: When big drainless pots are given more water than the plant can use right away, the water settles to the bottom and the potting mix begins to rot, eventually becoming a stinky, waterlogged mess that will kill plant roots. But inside Bloem's self-watering planter, the potting mix is held above the water line by a sturdy screen. The water chamber is connected by small porous channel filled with soil, which then acts as a wick. As water is used by the plant or evaporates from the surface of the soil, capillary action draws more water up from below. The soil has just the right amount of water all the time, but also maintains air pockets, which the plant roots need to stay healthy. Save you time by reducing watering frequency and provides a consistent water supply that helps plants thrive Perfect solution for going on vacation and busy schedules Potting mix is held above water chamber and connected by small porous channels filled with soil which act like a water wick through the evaporation process Top width 6.5" (x) base width 3.5" (x) 5.25" height Matte finish is perfect for resisting scratches, dirt, and fingerprints 100% UV stabilized polypropylene plastic ensures long lasting color and withstands extreme weather conditions + BPA free When to add drainage holes? While various kinds of plants have different drainage needs, few can tolerate sitting in stagnate water for extended periods of time. If exposed to intense periods of rainfall or storms, your soil may not be able to absorb or evaporate the water fast enough. When the pot is in an unsheltered location we recommend punching out drainage holes. The process is extremely quick and easy with the right tools. Flip pot upside down and locate areas marked “X” for recommended hole locations. Then punch out holes by using either a drill with a drill bit or a hammer and a nail. The process should only take a minute or two, then the pot will be ready to fill with potting soil and plants of your choice.

Planter extends times between waterings. Holes for drainage are scored and need to be drilled or punched out.
This is a great planter, but there is frequent confusion on the issue of roots air access and the prevention of root rot (one of the selling points Fiskars uses.). These planters work best IF they have the saucer with it. It's a point that seller should make more strongly. The planters are sturdy, light, plastic, and very hard to break. But, they do not LOOK plastic; they look like pottery, even only a few inches away. I have Thyme Green and Black planters, and I like both colors. The planter does do a good job of holding water below the plant and really extends periods between watering.THE ROOT ROT PROTECTION ISSUE. On the bottom of this model planter is scored holes that can be drilled out; these holes allow for some of the air flow Fiskars promises. You need to have a saucer or the planter will leak.I'm currently using them without saucers, but probably will go that way, in the end.

Have to top water
I use self-watering pots for my African violets that I just love. They come in two pieces and the bottom piece is a water reservoir. I needed something similar in a larger size and ordered this. When it arrived, I discovered that I had to top-water as the reservoir was enclosed with the top. I'm sure it will work for what it was intended, but I didn't use it because it wasn't what I was looking for.

Great solution for “Over Waterer’s”
These are the only planters I use for my houseplants now. I tend to “over water” sometimes due to my work schedule. The barrier at the bottom prevents me from doing so. However, it saves my “over water” in the bottom Incase my plants need it. And the price! Can’t beat it!

Love Them!
I have so many of these pots I always recommend them. Very light weight and easy to work with. If you have a garden and want to save yourself some of the hassle of constant watering I recommend these of any size. I live in Texas and it gets so hot here so the self watering pot helps a great deal.

Just fine
I first thought these came damaged bc of the bottom appeared to be, however, upon checking the photo, they are just fine.

6 inch plant pot
It's great but kinda confused about the drainage system built in. Will move plant to it soon and seems good to me.

They’re ok
Good tiny potters, they work good for little things. I put my Venus fly trap in them.

Nice looking
Sturdy looking, plastic had textured matte surface so it doesn’t scream plastic.
