Q: Are these waterproof? Looking for lightweight grip protection for a tough mudder.

The adhesive on this product will stay on indefinitely. I have to use a scrubby to get the residue off when I take them off. That said, I don't think I'd want to wear them for hours during a tough mudder. It's adhesive and it starts bothering my skin after an hour or so. Also, these grips are specifically made for barbell/pull-bar work. They work great for that purpose. For mud races, I personally prefer gloves that I stow tucked in my shorts until I need them. Q: Is this the same material as KT Tape?

Maybe not exactly,but very similar.

Q: Would these still provide a strong grip on a smooth pull-up bar without using chalk?

My gymnasts says chalk is absolutely necessary to use with these. Without chalk they’re slippery for her. But then again, she does more that just pull ups… they swing/fly on those bars. She loves them and with chalk they are the best protection for her calluses!
