TherapeuticaTherapeutica Travel Pillow, Firm Orthopedic Support, Petite

I absolutely LOVE my full-size Therapeutica pillow so I wanted to get this travel version of the pillow. My Therapeutica pillow at home for every night use is size Petite so I ordered the Petite travel size pillow. The travel pillow version is definitely not as comfortable as the full-size pillow, which I expected. For me (size Petite), the travel pillow doesn't have as much neck support when laying on my back and it doesn't seem to "cradle" my head like the full-size pillow does. The indentation for the head seems more shallow. Flipping the pillow over for a side sleeping position is a little annoying. I am constantly changing my sleeping positions from my sides to my back throughout the night so it is not as convenient as the full-size Therapeutica pillow. But I can't expect it to be the same. It is still much better that not having it at all and having to sleep on a traditional stuffed pillow. Just don't expect it to be as amazing as the full-size Therapeutica pillow, but it is still a must have for traveling!

Great idea, and if I was only a back sleeper, I think it would be wonderful. It is just a bit on the firm side for me. I switch from back to side throughout the night (but the combo pillow that Therapeutica makes that has the right side height is not the right height for my back--so I have to have a second pillow side by side with this one). The trouble I find is that it's hard for my head to find that one right spot where it should rest for back-sleeping. I've awakened on the lip of the pillow on either side instead of in the middle, and that throws off my spinal alignment. Sometimes I do better with just a regular chiropractic pillow for the back-sleeping part--then if I hit any part of it in my sleep, I'm fine, and I don't have to wake up as much to try to get positioned correctly. However, the extra support for the shoulders on this travel pillow is really wonderful, and bumps my overall rating up to a 4. I may still switch back and forth sometimes...we'll see.

I have neck issues from whiplash and arthritis, so I rival Goldie Locks in looking for a pillow that helps me sleep comfortably. After reading the glowing reviews, I was hopeful that this pillow would provide a great night sleep. I ordered the petite size after measuring myself per the guide. It was quite uncomfortable. The pillow is incredibly firm for a foam pillow, which I suppose would be great if it was molded into something that was comfortable. You know that feeling when you get your hair washed at the salon of the bowl digging into the base of your skull? This pillow is kind of like that. So, I already blew $51 on the pillow and decided to take matters into my own hands. Several scissor snips later the pillow to conform to my head/neck, the pillow is fairly comfortable. Would I buy another one: absolutely not, but it is reasonably comfortable with the aforementioned modifications.

I first bought this pillow in 2010 when I was having neck surgery. I had a couple ruptured discs in my neck and also struggled with intense headaches. I use to love to sleep with 2 or 3 pillows but my neurosurgeon really was convincing me that a great pillow can make all the difference! So, I ordered this pillow and I love it. It has been with me on vacations to Florida, on a cruise, to the midwest, and to Italy two times! I take this pillow every where I go. Because of it's odd size, I bought a standard size pillow and took it to a local alterations shop and had them custom make the pillow case to fit this pillow. They put a zipper into the pillow case to make it easy for travelling. This cost less than $20 to have it made. Seriously! This pillow makes all the difference in the world. It helped me heal after my neck surgery and it now keeps my spine nice and straight while sleeping. I can totally tell a big difference when I sleep with this pillow versus my old down pillows or hotel pillows. I now just pack a larger suitcase and bring this with me where ever I go! Also, I ordered both the standard size and the petite size. I am 5'9" and about a size 8 and the Petite size works best for me. The standard size did not keep my neck straight, it was just a tad bit too big. LOVE this pillow. Just re-ordered another one after three years only because the form was starting to lose it's shape. BEST PILLOW EVER! You will not be disappointed.

Great pillow!! Those with 3 level cervical fusion's may feel the need to pad the part of pillow that cradles neck. Without padding, pillow let's head drop to far back and is not comfortable . Once area was padded, pillow has been great. I padded area with cloth. So far so good. Have been struggling for years to find a good pillow for three level cervical fusion. It would be great if company gave you padding to adjust pillow to perfect comfort level.

I read the instructions on the manufacturer's web site, measured myself, and purchased the petite pillow (I was right on the cusp between petite and regular, and I downsized). I had been having neck cramps everytime I was horizontal (on my side, on my back, it didn't matter, my neck would start to cramp up in a few minutes). My neck was fine during the day, clearly lying down was an issue. I tried a number of other pillows, but they never perfectly followed the contours of my neck all the way up to my head. This cradled me perfectly, and the cramping stopped!I did not notice a chemical smell... perhaps they have corrected this problem? It also comes with its own zip-on pillow case, although I may switch it for an all-cotton one. I have flipped it over to use for side-sleeping, and that is great too... perfect support to keep my head lined up with the rest of my spine. I am very, very pleased (had gone to the doctor, asked my physcial therapist for help, gotten a muscle relaxant Rx... but this pillow solved my problem after several weeks of nightly cramping.
