We walk our dogs in the woods and we have coyotes and javelina. so we carry pellet guns as we've had our dogs attacked by both - yes, physically attacked even though on a leash. Sometimes Coyotes will actually stalk us. Javelinas are short on eye sight, so if we accidentally get too close and they have young, the oldest alpha male will stand his ground and even charge. These are a nice generic hard nylon holster and by adding a belt (just an ordinary web belt will do) they make an excellent chest or under arm carry holster. Can fit over just the summer T-shirt, or over the bulkiest winter coat. easily ambidextrous. This is the second one I've ordered as my husband wanted his own when he saw how well and how secure it worked.

I am using this for a S&W 686+ 6" barrel - fits snugly/perfectly. What an awesome holster. I first tried a drop leg type holster and found I like the idea of a drop leg holster a whole lot more than actually using one. A 686 w/6" barrel is fairly heavy to be strapped to your leg and belt. Leg muscles are not particularly well suited to having snug straps around them during longer hikes. Having a heavy revolver swinging with your leg is not an ideal situation. This style over-shoulder bandolero type holster just works. Revolver ends up sitting snugly up against your side above the waist - high enough to stay out of the way, low enough for a comfortable cross draw. The wide padded shoulder strap (essential!) does a great job taking the bite out of the weight. The belt strap/clip adding to overall security and making one handed draw possible (if not a little clumsy). A very nice adjustable thumb break is effective and easy to use. Nice touch: included a tongue depressor to make it much easier to adjust the velcro on the thumb break. Plenty of strap adjustments to carry your revolver in a number of different positions. Clearly not a holster well suited for concealed carry - more of an exposed in the field / hunting type holster...or to rile up the hipsters at your local Starbucks (kidding!, please don't!). Better made, and more comfortable to wear than the photo suggests.

I have a large property and must carry when outside for animal protection. Every time I go outside. I ordered this to slip over my shoulder to quickly don it when I need to walk a dog, or walk into the woodline for something quick without having to wear a complicated holster or kit bag especially over bulky cold weather clothing. The holster works as designed for this, and I find it indispensable. However, there are some serious drawbacks, that while they don't preclude me from using this, they leave me still searching for the perfect solution. One: in an order to use as a quick don/doff holster, I do not use the provided belt loop attachment. Because of this, the revolver I carry flips upside down with any slight motion of bending or stooping at the waist, so it cannot be worn while doing serious work such as logging, splitting, or burning anything. Two: where the nylon parts of this holster are stitched and glued or burned together, it has very sharp edges which are uncomfortable against the exposed arm skin while wearing a short sleeved shirt. It is difficult to find a way to wear this holster that it is accessible, and comfortable. I see it as more of a firearm carrier than a proper holster.

The good: More inexpensive than most Alaskans. The only one I could find for a five inch barrel medium frame (mine is a GP100). Convertible to a belt holster. Ambidextrous. Simple. Speed loader pouch fits on chest strap.The bad: Flops around a bit (can be minimized by hooking to opposite D ring, but this might scratch grips). Retaining strap makes drawing revolver a two handed operation (a thumb break is available from the manufacturer)..

The holster itself seemed solid for a nylon one, so 2 stars there. My .357 Ruger Redhawk fit nice and snug. However, the design when used in the bandolier configuration is so poor that without the belt anchor, the holster flips upside down when holding my revolver. No clue why the d-rings are located below the gun's center of gravity, but it creates a huge fail and severely limits its usefulness. Can't be worn outside of a jacket, with pajamas, or over a dress without pointing one's weapon at one's own face. Returning.

This holster is not made for larger people . I am 6 ft and 180 lbs . This fits ok with only light weight clothing but with cold weather clothing it is barely usable . There is no mention of what size person this bandoleer is made for . For those people who do not have a CCW they must carry the pistol fully exposed . I am working on getting my CCW but until then if I carry my pistol hunting I must have the holster over my hunting clothing so it is fully exposed . The length of the bandoleer is not quite as long as it should be . I know it is an inexpensive holster but a few inches more on the strap would make it a very decent and useful item . As is I may have to return it .

It is exactly what they said it was and came when they said it would. If you have a nice leather holster for your revolver but like to go in the woods, fishing, anything, use this instead. I wish it had more range of adjustment and you will not win a quick draw contest (but it is not made for that). However, it is perfect to have outside and get that revolver off your hip. Nice and comfortable. The ONLY thing I would change on it is the elastic fastener for the hammer that keeps the pistol from coming out. It works. But I would have rather had a snap or velcro fastener. The elastic works, but after it is in place, it is more or less a loose fit.
