This works.
I dont like it attached to a collar bcs it’s heavy and swings around under her neck and her feet get tangled in the leash. BUT it’s great for a harness! I put this on a very long leash for my German shorthair puppy. I take her to a big open field to play and she would run to the end of the leash and literally get flipped upside down. I bought this and now she knows to slowdown and it doesn’t jerk her back so hard. She’s starting to listen to commands better but still needs this for when the zoomies attack! It does what it supposed to do.

Wow! What a difference!
I am totally amazed at the difference using the Jerk-Ease! I have a 70 lb Olde English Bulldogge who uses a retractable leash (with me on the other end) out in open areas so she can run and play (for more exercise than just walking) but not be totally free to go off in the brush after a rabbit or squirrel. The problem is that as she runs around, sometimes in circles, sometimes chasing something or just running to the end of her retractable tape leash, I take the brunt of the force of her hitting the end of the 26" leash at a run or gallop and that "jerk" when she hits the end can be so powerful that if one isn't ready, it could pull you off your feet, not to mention the jarring to your body, arm, shoulder. So I discovered the Jerk-Ease and after attaching it to my dog's halter at one end and the retractable leash at the other, we discovered that we both LOVE the Jerk-Ease! It cushions the "jerk" so that neither one of us feels that powerful force. I am amazed at how wonderful it is! I do not feel I am going to be pulled off my feet and I do not get jarred all over my back, shoulder, etc. How did I survive without it? What an incredible invention! I truly recommend the Jerk-Ease to anyone with a dog. Use it with a collar, or a halter and any kind of leash, it is fantastic!! And I do not usually write reviews but wanted people to know this really works well! Comes in diff. sizes. I used the Large for my 70 lb because she is all muscle due to her breed. The large is rated up to 110 pounds. I bought this in July but wanted to test it out for a while and now feel it deserves a review after using it for 3 months. Thank you!

Buy up one size
Medium states dogs up to 60lbs. I have a 40lb GSP that is a real puller. She would have the medium stretched out to its max much of the time. After about 3 months of daily walking some of the inner bands must have broken and it curled up like a pigs tail. Even though she has calmed down and doesn't pull as bad I purchased the large. The large is much better. If you have a hard puller I would recommend buying up one size.

Almost jerkless
This is a great addition to my 16' retractable leash. I have an 8-month-old 60-pound Boxer/Malamute who can hit the end of the leash so hard he can send me sprawling but this addition makes it much safer for the both of us. One drawback is that it is so springy that if you want to restrain the dog or pull him away from something it lets him resist the action of being pulled. This really hasn't been a big problem, but I do take it off if we are in a high distraction area, so I have a little more control. So far, after 2 weeks of use it seems sturdy and like it will stand up under the heavy use I put it to.

yes it eases the jerk but...
...my 12lb Morkie still drags me around the block. This does decrease the shock of the pull between the dog and owner, but it doesn't stop them from continuously pulling. It would probably work better on a dog that doesn't act like there's always a squirrel 5 feet away. When doing a quick tug, you are less likely to hurt your dog's neck or body, depending on what harness you use. I ended up returning and purchasing a no pull harness that works amazing. I opted out of the medieval metal prongs types because it's so torturous and probably meant for bigger, more aggressive breeds. Some dogs just need that full body tightening in order to back off from pulling so hard.

I never want a retractable leash without one of these again!
I always walk the dogs with a harness and a jer-ease attachment when we go for walks with a retractable leash. My particular retractable leash extends 26’. I live in the country and the dogs really enjoy the zig zagging and sniffing the ground as we walk. I really think allowing them the mental stimulation of sniffing and zig zagging wears them out more than just a straight forward short leash walk. But the downside is the further they get from you, the more momentum they can build running after a random rabbit or distraction before they reach the end of the leash. For those instances, the jerk-ease is great. Before using a retractable leash, we did a lot of loose leash training and a lot of recall training. My hope was that they would never have to be pulled or yanked at all. But every once in a blue moon, some unexpected thing happens and in those instances, I’m really thankful for the jerk-ease attachment. I love this. Thank you for respecting dogs enough to make this product!

A Good Product I Really Needed!
For months I've searched for the perfect collar, harness, or leach for my Golden Retriever puppy, Oliver. I've been in and out of physical therapy for knee and shoulder problems and paid for all kinds of training. Finally, I discovered Jerk-Ease and to my delight, it works!!!!Now Oliver and I can take walks with a short or long leash and there is no more jerking suddenly in the opposite direction. Plus, I think he's happier, too! Try it. You'll LOVE it!

Great product, does exactly what we expected it to do, acts like a shock absorber
Sturdy, well made, great design. This has been a life saver, we adopted a 70 lb golden retriever that had not been leash trained. He was so excitable and would yank unexpectedly at the sight of anything that moved. This almost took us off our feet or yanked our shoulders dangerously. This bit of shock absorber gives us time to react. Overall it has reduced pulling and walks are much more comfortable and pleasant for everyone. We are using this as a tool as we train, not as a replacement for training and it is really working beautifully. We liked it so much we bought one for a neighbor dog with same pulling issues.

Finally some thing for a small dog...but priced too high
I am thoroughly impressed. Finally something that is actually sized for a small dog. Normally things that are advertised as Small come with the same hardware that is put on a piece of equipment for a big dog. This little bungee is appropriate for a small dog. -mine is 4.5 kg. It’s not too heavy attached to her lead or for her to work with as she walks. And it adds some stretch if she darts to the end of her extendable leash which is good for her skeletal structure as she won’t be having multiple huge jerks when she comes to the end of the lead. She especially loves to dart forward if she sees a squirrel! I took a star off because of the ridiculous price that is being charged. This thing is awesome but it’s incredibly simple with a very small amount of material. The price to be fair should be about half of this.

Does not last
Great concept and worked well at the start but the first I bought over stretched out to a very thin piece of outer cord where the elastic meets the plastic end piece after only 9 months. I bought a second hoping it was just a poor example and this one has done exactly the same after only 5 and 1/2 months. Another customer has attached a photo of the same problem. My dog is only 44lbs and the product is labelled for 60lbs usage. I am very disappointed as it is not cheap at over £20 to last for only such a short period of time and the danger to my dog - who is only a Keeshond - of it actually coming apart when he is pulling on a road does not bear thinking about.

Lasted a month
Worked fine initially, but after a month, the inner bungee rubber has failed. It's supposed to be for dogs up to 60 lb but our dog is just under 25 lb.

Works Well
Certainly reduces shock to both arm and dog, can't say how long it will last but it looks pretty well made.
