Check Chubbiee bag tags on amazon. They are of good quality with very cute patterns. I use them for everything my kids bring to kindergarten and preschool.

Would this be an ideal backpack for a college student?

IMO no. Its too flimsy, I bought these for my 5 yo twins to "pack" their toys. Its perfect for a little, kid or light use. But wouldn't last long in real world use. The wheels and handle are very cheap and will probably break if you drop this thing. It's also probably too small.

Is it mostly for kids?

We used it for our kids vacation carry on case but it could also be used for an adult. The handle periscopes to a height that an adult could use it with no problem.
