In a sea of misinformation, let this be your simple guide to living sustainably
A really great introduction or recap on simple ways to take action today in your daily routines. This small book covers a lot of great topics concisely, with a ton of interesting new ideas or fun facts and always backed with data or science (and footnotes to check facts yourself!) I love the easy language of the author. The words and concepts are approachable and motivating enough to the reader so that they may make small decisions that make a might impact on our world. This is a great book for learning more about what we can do to not feel helpless, and once your done share your copy with a friend or family member to keep us going green - We can do this!

most important book i've read in years
Simply put: this is one of the most impactful books I've ever read. I have already begun to make simple, but sustainable, changes in my food-buying routines. Not only that, but Kate makes you EXCITED to make these changes. She doesn't scare you or overwhelm you, rather she breaks it down into bite sized chunks of information that are relevant to you. I often find myself overwhelmed when thinking about sustainability, and often guilted by the breadth of information out there. This book single-handedly shifted my perspective, while somehow side-stepping the inevitable "i'm doing everything wrong" feeling that I often get when reading articles on the topic. Do yourself a favor and read this ASAP - you won't regret it.

A little book can make a big difference
This is a wonderful little book. The food industry is a mysterious and deceiving world and it can be a daunting task to try to navigate through what it all means. This book guides you through various food labels and what they actually mean (or don’t mean), compares different types of milks, advises how to cut back on waste, and ultimately how to protect our environment. It’s incredibly well researched, insightful, humorous, engaging, and never once preachy. We can all learn to make small changes in order to make a big difference, and this book will inspire you to make some.

So helpful, so fun!
Ms. Bratskeir has managed to distill some of the most complex debates about sustainability in food shopping to easily digestible, memorable nuggets of information that every shopper can use. I'm taking photos of so many of her tips and charts with my phone so I can always have this wisdom with me when I'm shopping. This is the perfect guidebook for anyone looking to cut back on food waste, packaging, or plastic use — even just a little, because she reminds us it's not about being perfect with humor and personality.

An important book for all generations.
This thoughtfully written book is one for all generations. Fast reading, educational, serious, and at times humorous, it will open your eyes and your mind to so many things about food shopping that you didn’t know before. Read this book and it will help you make this planet a better place for us all. Read it, learn from it, and you’ll find your next trip trip to the food store a lot more gratifying. This is a great book. I loved it!

Made Me Hate Myself Less
I'm so tired of feeling guilty at the grocery store. Guilty because I forgot my cloth bag one time, or because I didn't recycle something right, or because I bought something that wasn't "organic." So I loved this book! It reads like a knowledgeable and understanding friend. It's well-researched, relatable, engaging, and answers lots of my food-related questions, such as, "Why is a whole bag of potato chips cheaper than one actual potato?" A must-read before your next grocery-store excursion!

Great sustainability book that I’ll re-read
This book is an excellent guide on how to be a better sustainable shopper. I know I’ll re-read certain chapters again to reference labels and address questions I may still have. I often have guilt that I’m not doing enough for the environment but Kate Bratskeir does a great job acknowledging not everyone is perfect but if each of us can make simple changes to how we shop and consume, the incremental impact can better the planet. 💚

Opened my eyes.
A great read about what should be a dry topic. I learned so much about becoming a more sustainable shopper, with most of the recommendations being really easy to follow. You don’t have to be a tree hugger to do your part.
