Barska Portable Diversion Dual Book Safe Concealed Lock Box for Secure and Discreet Hidden Storage of Valuables and Personal Items

I ordered this book diversion safe to use as a secure place to keep cash on hand in the house. In other words, after 30 years of use, the plug on my childhood piggy bank broke, and I decided to upgrade to something more “adultish,” but equally fun. Added bonus: my Glock will fit inside, too! Couldn’t do that with the ol’ piggy bank. But seriously, folks, let’s get down to the good, the bad, and the ugly of this item:Pros:-Solid, sturdy construction.-The book looks real. The cover looks and feels exactly how you’d expect a hardcover book to feel. When picked up or viewed from the top and side, it looks like a real book, thanks to real paper edging (see photos).-The safe itself is made of sturdy metal. The lock seems sturdy as well.-Comes with two keys.-The inside of the safe is lined with felt.-Blends in seamlessly with the rest of the thousands of books in my library...this would even blend in with books on a single book shelf (see photos...I took a picture of it along with books on two other shelves of one of my bookcases...it nails the “chameleon factor”).Cons:-It is large. If your book collection consists of dozens of small paperback novels, it will stick out as being “different” but it will still look like a book. The larger size can be a bonus though, if you’re planning to store something large inside...-If you pick it up, you can definitely tell it’s not a book...but that is to be expected. It is, after all a safe, and an excellently-made one at that.I definitely recommend this product. By looking at it, no one would be able to tell that this isn’t a real book.

AWESOME: I think these books are fantastic. I would definitely buy them for hiding small valuables. Before my purchase, I read several complaints about the books not looking real - or the pages not looking real, and that once you open the flap, you can see it is a safe. My guess is that most folks are not going to leave these lying around on a desk. If you look in the pictures at them on the shelf, you absolutely cannot tell they are not real books. They are positioned on the bottom row and then there is a close up of the row with the four right next to each other. There was also criticism about the locks. I don't even use the locks. If a thief is into books, takes this off the shelf, sees that it is a safe - regardless of there being a lock, the book won't be there when you get back.COMPARISON OF SEVERAL BOOKS: I bought four of these hidden book "safes." I bought different ones because it seemed there was no sense in having four of the same book on my shelf. So what I have done is laid them out next to each other so that you can see the difference. While they are all comparatively the same in length and width, the Paris book is definitely deeper. This book and the Paris book both have felt lining. The lining is not high quality, and it does not stick to the metal finish well BUT it is functional and I would use one of these books for something that you may not want to get scratched. One benefit I found with all the books is that even though they are similar in size, each book is a different size from the other from the outside, making them look more like real books on the shelf.

I bought this for my kid who loves to have hidey spots but is growing up and looking to have a more "mature" looking room. I ordered the "Antique Book" option and I was really pleasantly surprised with how realistic it looks on the outside. It would totally blend in with other leather books or vintage books in a library. So if you only want a fun little secret hiding spot for things in your house, i really recommend this product.That said I really hope nobody is buying these and thinking that they will actually keep your important valuables safe, especially weapons like i've seen others posting. The only safety mechanism is that these will blend in decently but not perfectly. They're still just a $30 The lock is somewhat flimsy and very easily opened with a hard twist of a screw driver. You can also very easily rip the sides of the box as they're just a thick cardboard. Please be responsible and invest in solid protection for valuables and weapons.

I bought this as a birthday present, when she opened it, she seemed puzzled because she thought it was an actual book. It is a delightful oversize book that is actually a safe to hide valuables. It looks great on the shelf next to oversize old books of a similar nature. The locking mechanism is hard to pick (we tried) and as a little 'hiding in plain sight' safe. It is a good gift for any age, as everyone has something they'd like to lock away. Plus it's something they can use in everyday life.

I needed a book safe that didn't look like a dictionary, a thesaurus, or the other books out there that are safes. Also, this one is nicely finished, looks like a book, and has a locking cover that is easy to open and close.This one is very nice. It looks interesting on the shelf, and the variety of titles is a plus.So, it holds the gun, is a great safe, and hides well in the shelf

This is what I store most of my little valuables in, and it does a great job for the most part. The only problem I have with it is that I've had to fix the lock many times because it keeps getting loose against the metal plate. But this thing simply disappears into my bookshelf so I definitely recommend getting it if you need a little storage place.

Very sturdy. Great look to it. However the lock was in pieces and I had to put it together. I almost put it together wrong and locked myself out of the damn thing--so if your get one, make sure you line it up properly if its not fully assembled. Other than that, it's a pretty sweet safe and I really like it.

Es el tipo de producto que es difícil encontrar en México; lo recomiendo mucho, ya que en una ocasión los rateros entraron a mi departamento y me robaron muchas casas, esculcaron por todas partes menos en los libreros, así que esta es una buena caja fuerte, de hecho compré varias y las tengo repartidas entre mis libros, me parece que mis objetos de valor están muy seguros (en México a ningún ratero se le ocurrirá robarse un libro!).

This is the nicest book lock box I have ever purchased ... it looks realistic, it's a bit larger than the rest, lock works great, made extremely well, and it's a lovely addition to your book case ... absolutely gorgeous !

Es un producto voluminoso, pero fácilmente se camufla entre libros grandes tipo enciclopedias. No es algo práctico para andar cargando, pero sí algo para tenerlo en la biblioteca personal.

Excelente. Llego a tiempo, bien empacado y sin golpes. Calidad suficiente para el uso que se propone. Tiene un magneto que mantiene cerradas las pastas. Además del mecanismo de cerradura. Lo recomiendo. Falta ver cuanto dura a largo plazom Por lo pronto tengo un mes aproximadamente y funciona excelente.
