Attractive sword, mediocre sheath
My first sword arrived with a broken sheath but it was replaced without a problem. The sheath is made of a lightweight wood and does not feel all that durable. It didn't survive the first shipment despite a thick styrofoam case. The orange speckled metallic finish looks good from afar (or mounted high on a wall) but up close, it looks a little plastic-y and cheap. I wouldn't go to war with this sheath but it's fine for display purposes. The sheath is a mild disappointment but the sword itself is impressive. The handle is crafted elegantly with an artistic grip pattern. The guard is all-metal with a nice design. The blade is shiny, straight, sharp, and intimidating. I am no sword expert but this looks like a fine sword to my eye and hand.

A real Katana , it’s a great looking sword, very well made
I got this siwode Handmade Full Tang Sharp Sword, Alloy Monkey Peach Tsuba Japanese Ninja Samurai Katana (High Carbon Steel 1060) Bo-Hi 40-Inch in today and opened it immediately and it’s a beautiful sword.First it’s just awesome. It’s packaged very well in a nice box and is in between to thick pieces of styrofoam. I love that it’s hand made with a full tang. A full tang is a absolute must for any sword or knife. It’s 40 inch long and comes with a sheath. The sheath is good quality and looks great. You can definitely tell work was put into both the sword and the sheath. The sword is very sharp but it’s not razor sharp but it will still cut you so be careful handling it. The sword has good weight to it and is very solid. This is made with high carbon steal not stainless steal. Stainless steal is worthless when it comes to making real swords because it becomes brittle after about 12 inches. Carbon steal is a must when making real swords that you could actually use. These 3 main types1045- if made right can be good but is considered the weaker of the 31060- is considered by sword excepts as the best because it’s durable and can also hold a edge1095- very durable but may not hold as sharp of a edge as the othersAll these are good but this sword is made with the 1060 high carbon steel witch is what I was hunting for.The pictures I shared if you look closely at the blade there’s still sword oil on it that I hadn’t wiped off yet so the blade isn’t smudged it’s the oil. I didn’t read the book it came with til after I took the pictures.Overall this is a great katana, very high quality and looks great as well. Perfect for killing zombies during the apocalypse.I very highly recommend this

THIS IS NOT A TOY, this thing is crazy sharp, very well made; made in China, with 1060 steel
This "siwode Handmade Sharp Katana" is definitely NOT a toy, do not get this for a kid or a teenager. This is a weapon, definitely with a weapon grade sharpness, weight and construction. Made with the higher quality 1060 high carbon steel (0.60% carbon) as compare to the much cheaper 1045 steel. The design, construction and built is every bit Japanese, except that this is Made in China. This sword is definitely well made, it is solid, and it has some real weight to it. The blade come well oiled and ultra sharp. A swing of this sword against Amazon shipping cardboard boxes cleanly cut right thru.I am no experts in Japanese Swords and I am just starting to learn more about them. But what I know is, swords with the lower grade 1045 steel can be have for under $100, while the legitimate 1060 steel swords should be between $100 - $500 (to as high as $800-$1000). And real Japanese Katana Sword forged in Japan would cost a few thousand dollars as a start. With all those in mind, this sword at $115, with the quality steel, is quite a good deal, even tho everything else (fitting, finish, details etc..) are good, but not the very, very best. But overall, this sword is legit and has tons of details.I also, really would love it to include a katana stand. It really doesnt cost too much to include a stand, but at least, that make this package an instantly displayable item.Once again, let me emphasize that THIS IS NOT A TOY, and one have to be VERY VERY careful when handling it, it can cause serious injury or death if this is not handled correctly. And please do not let kids have access to this, they can hurt someone or they can hurt themselves with this.Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review & the pictures are helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.

Impressive workmanship
This a very well made 1060 high carbon steel katana. I was impressed with the attention to detail and workmanship of the sword. The cord wrap work on the handle is tightly wrapped, evenly spaced and feels solid and comfortable when I'm holding the katana. The tang of the handle is covered in real shark skin (white ray) and holds the cord wrap in place solidly. The pommel is steel and is finely detailed depicting a samurai posed in a warrior's stance. The blade guard (steel) has very detailed carving/engraving on both the handle side and blade side that looks like it was done by hand. The blade collar is made of brass and also has fine engraving work on both sides of the guard. The scabbard for the katana is made of wood and is finished in a durable high gloss enamel paint that has a glass like finish and none of the scabbard joinery can be seen through the paint finish the hanging cord wrap work on the scabbard is well done and complements the scabbard nicely. The scabbard fits snugly around the collar but it isn't overly difficult to draw the katana. The blade came coated in a fine choji oil (mineral oil). The blade edge is razor sharp and polished the blade ridge follows the blade curvature evenly. The grind break at at the curved edge is straight and uniform on both sides of the blade, and the curved edge is also razor sharp. The high groove machine work is straight and flawless, the ridge of the blade is double beveled. The katana also came with an owners manual thoroughly describing how to maintain and care for the blade as well as a small pouch of grinding powder to clean the blade.
