Great way to practice for low cost and noise
An update after a year and a half of use. I stand by my previous comments, the Laser Trainer Target does what it claims to do. It isn't perfect but neither am I. More details on my experience:I liked this system enough to purchase three practice cartridges including .45 ACP, .380 and .223. Everything worked out of the box with no unexpected problems. Make sure to check the practice laser before inserting it to of the system to work are caused by this. The O-rings on the .45 laser shrank and the point of laser light impact versus point of aim would move around. At ~$5 plus shipping for replacements that are worth pennies at best and considering the acquisition cost of the system and practice lasers it would be nice if Laserlyte offered them free or used better quality rings. All three practice lasers were bought within a few months and the other two still fit and work fine so the .45 originals might just be a bad batch.Comments on "accuracy" need to take into account that a gun sighted in for a distance different from the location of this practice system will not have the same point of aim/impact. Ballistics apply whether out in the filed/range or your living room. Plus the fired rounds follow a ballistic curve, the laser a straight line. And, particularly if you are practicing at a fairly close distance, the laser beam may not diverge/expand into a spot size big enough to touch off a sensor in the target. This isn't a failure of anything. Only so many sensors can be placed in the given space and if the laser beam is still focused to a small spot size it will hit where there is no sensor. These are laser diodes and require a lens to focus the output. These physical factors make perfect alignment of point or aim with point of laser light impact unlikely. Just like the real world, how well you are shooting is demonstrated by a tight group more than how close you are to the center of the target. You could zero your gun to the laser target but then it wouldn't be zeroed for the range/field.I've easily saved the purchase price in ammo assuming I even made it to the range. The system certainly has allowed me to have more productive dry fire practice, practice I probably wouldn't have accomplished at all. I'm sure Laserlyte is making a nice profit versus the cost of manufacture but that's our economic system at work. We can always say no thanks .For me this system makes sense and works well enough. My original review:Works well, takes a bit of use to get the most out of it but will pay for itself in saved ammo costs. Using your actual weapon is a bit more trouble either because you need to reset/cock the trigger between each "round" but using a plastic look alike with a laser is an additional expense and nothing beats the feel of the real thing. My double action only totally stock Sig P250 wore my trigger finger out pretty quickly. So I'll end up strengthening my finger and improving my accuracy. One of the things that you may need to get used to is the practice laser cartridges may not be absolutely accurate with the bore so you may need to aim a bit high, low and or the side. But just like the real thing you can see how you are grouping your shots and practice for ballistics and wind.

NRA Pistol Instructor likes this item...
I am a NRA Pistol Instructor and was looking for training aids. I use a laser bore sight to check iron sights and recently saw a video on YouTube about how to use a laser for for trigger control analysis. It seemed like a very good approach so I thought I would buy a laser specifically for trigger control training. After finding and buying the laser trainer I thought I would get this target to round out the package. I am glad I did. This target will pay for itself in paper targets alone that I don't have to buy. No masking tape! No going down range to reset targets. It can be used in the house! In the air conditioning! No brass to police! No ammo to buy or load! Add it up and it saves a ton of bucks and provides a great practice session. Plus no cleaning session afterwards and cleaning materials to buy!Note! It is not a replacement for live fire but it WILL improve your shooting. I mean this sincerely! The "Laser Trainer Pro" by Laserlyte I bought to use with this target is dead on. Or at least better than I am. Like I said above you still need to shoot live ammo for recoil and report to get a real experience but trigger control, grip and sight alignment training is possible with this set up.Here is a reason to buy for the gun collector. If you are like me it is sometimes hard to choose which gun to shoot with for an event. Or just to find out which gun you shoot the best with out of many that are close. This will help with that as well. In 20 minutes I could see a difference, albeit a disappointing one, that my favorite SIG was not my best shooter in my hand. It was the old Ruger brick P92 that I had the tightest groups with. In the 20 or 30 minutes I had ordered my guns from one to ten in grouping size. Remember this is not the gun's accuracy it is you and how the gun fits you. Also recoil is not taken into account but grip angle hand fitting and sight analysis is very possible with this.Gun store owners .... THINK OF THE SALES POSSIBILITIES!!! Let them see for themselves how the gun shoots in their hands. Let them find the best gun for them and they WILL BE BACK for their next gun!For you instructors out there this is invaluable for working with students prior to going to the range.Note!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No live ammo anywhere near you when using and ALWAYS ALWAYS triple check the chamber for live ammo if you use the Laser Trainer Pro with this target. The Laser Trainer Pro laser does not load into the chamber like other lasers so it is possible to have a chambered round in the firearm with the laser on it.One final note a little off topic but pertinent, lasers that mount in the bore not the chamber are best for POI (Point of Impact) accuracy, The gun's chamber is not the last point of leaving the barrel for bullet flight. While most guns are machined fairly accurately the chamber is not the part of the barrel to affect bullet flight.

Broke - Right after the warranty ended - Do NOT Buy this
I had this product for 3 years and didn't use it for several months. I just took it out of my drawer after it was in there for several months and it stopped working. At first, I thought it was the batteries so I replaced it with new batteries. It doesn't work and it seems like it quit working. For the price of this item, you would think it would lasts longer than 3-4 years. So, if you like to waste your money on a product that works up until when the warranty expires (which according to their website, is a 3-year warranty) go ahead.I have purchased a different item about 2 years ago which a friend of mine had and it's called LaserAmmo.UPDATE 4-16-2021: >>> I emailed the company and they asked me to return and pay for shipping it back to them AND they said it would take up to 3-months to get it back?! I am very, very disappointed with their reply. DO NOT BUY this product as one day it will just "DIE" out of the blue. We are very careful with our things and this product looks like new from the 1st day I bought. I have NO clue why it stopped working, but let everyone know I am not buying any products from LaserLyte ever again. If I can rate this less than 1 star, I RATE IT AT A "BIG ZERO".BUYER BEWARE.

Cat toy laser is a good function check for this target.
The answer to making these targets work is to make sure the batteries in the laser "pointer" in the gun are FRESH. If the target cannot sense the laser beam sent by the gun's laser pulse, then the target will not work. A good check to see if the target is functioning, is to use one of those laser cat toys - they have approximately the same wavelength, and can act as a function check. The cat laser can also "reset" and "display" your "hits" on the electronic target, if you aren't that accurate at hitting those buttons with the gun's laser striker. As well, it will save the gun's laser battery life. The take away here is - double-check the target's functioning with a cat toy laser. The obvious caveat here - fresh batteries in the cat toy laser as well!

Very useful but not a true substitute for the real thing
The target is great for at home training, appears to have about 60 points of target(LED) which are good for the size of the device. Can be used with there laser targeting system (bullet or pen) to trigger the system, performing a view or reset is easy as long as you can hit the smaller reset ports. One nice feature they could add would be to view and continue, once you have viewed you have to reset before it will accept any further targets. Would be also nice if it had a mode which would display automatically instead of needing to select display. Will see if I can attach a photo of it with several lights lit up to give an idea of the LED displays.

LaserLyte trainer target
I had seen it in action. It functioned as the promotional material suggested. For anyone wanting to sharpen skills regarding target shooting at a reasonable rate, this is the answer.
