Review: It Works!!! I love it!!!!!!!! - This diet, or should I say "nutrition plan for life", worked like magic for me! I have now lost 21 pounds and am back into a size 6! I am back in my skinny jeans from 10 years ago! I lost 8 pounds the first 6 days, which seemed like a miracle to me but Michael said "Just Believe" so I did, and 15 by the end of the first month. I lost the full 21 pounds in about 2 1/2 months on the maintenance plan which has a bit of wiggle room, and now have a comfortable eating and exercise plan that I love for life and am happy to maintain. It was so fast and easy my friends couldn't believe it! I have been struggling with my weight for a few years now, and had tried other diets like going back to Nutrisystem which worked for me a few years back, but only lost 2 pounds or so in a few months this time around. I also tried South Beach, Intrafit, and the P90x nutrition plan, among others. I was so discouraged, I thought my metabolism died somewhere and wouldn't budge. Plus I was exhausted and discouraged from all the hard work and dieting I had been doing, carefully journaling all my food on Lose It! on my IPhone (a great Application! btw). I am 5'10" and my weight had gone up to 170 pounds over the years, but now I'm down to my goal weight of 149! I used to be a runway model and an athlete when I was younger, but in my mid 30's the weight would just not budge despite the 5-6 days I was working out doing heavy cardio, Turbojam kickboxing DVD's, and running, and dieting. I felt like such a failure because I did ALL the things I did before that worked in the past to no avail. Well, in the book I learned I was exercising at too high a heart rate that burned sugar not fat and was exhausting, and eating way too much salt, about 2000-3000 mg per day, and too much fat at about 40-60 grams a day!. I have never been hungry on this diet, and if anything it was hard to eat all the meals everyday, and the book said do not skip or you will not lose weight. I have become a much better cook now, and had to totally reform my cooking methods and learn to cook from scratch, and make food taste amazing without fat, sugar, or salt. Well, after some trial and error, the food tastes amazing thanks to the wonderful recipes included in the book. Even my guests love the food, and don't even know its "diet." Trader Joes and Whole Foods is a lifesaver to fulfill my shopping list. My favorite food is the Turkey Sausage patties I make on my George Foreman Grill, and I make a homemade Turkey meat with similar spices that I put over my rice. Salt free chicken boullion is a wonderful spice for everything, as is salt free Chili Pepper sauce from TJ's. I make my own salad dressing with Balsamic vinegar, 3 packets Stevia, and a dash of mustard. I had to buy paper plates because I was drowning in dishes and pans from all the meals. After a bit, I learned to cook in bulk with a big rice cooker, 4 pounds of Jenny O Turkey 99% meat at a time, a huge salad in a giant tupperware with all the veggies, and frozen Trader Joes Chicken Tenderloins which are easier to measure that I just throw on the George Forman for 12 minutes, and 2 dozen hard boiled eggs. What could be easier? My favorite dessert is strawberries with 2 pacs of stevia on top. I also love the exercise program. I work out at a much lower intensity while wearing my heart rate moniter to get my exact fat burning number, and stay on it while fast walking my 60 minutes 5 days a week. Sometimes I just put on 5 pound ankle weights and walk in place while watching TV, ultra lazy! The strength training from the 12 day book only takes 15 minutes a few times a week, and is much easier than what I was doing! Plus I have amazing results in such a short time! I really love this book! Thank you Michael Thurmond, you really changed my life and raised my self esteem! It was really hurting me that I was not at my ideal weight and I used to cry, and I feel fabulous now! Men are hitting on me now everywhere I go, and I haven't felt this good and full of energy in years! I feel really sexy and healthy again, like I finally got my "Self" back and confidence too! This stuff is all healthy and what you really should be doing anyways! Buy the Book! Just Believe! Review: It works, who would have thought? - I was really hoping that this book would work for me. yeah..another diet book. hum. But since I'm a big fan of extreme makeover I thought I'd give it a try. I currently have 20 lbs to lose. I lost 7 lbs in 1 week. After 3 days I was able to get a pair of shorts past my thighs and was able to button them up without passing out! The diet is a challenge to stick to. The first day was the day I experienced the most pain and suffering. Drink 100ozs? I never did make that amount. 64oz was my limit. After each day I knew where all the bathrooms were in every store I visited. Felt like being pregnant again. I did prepare all the meals in one day..it did take a few hrs to get it all organized, as it was my first time. That is a great bonus beacuse I was able to grab and go the right thing to eat instead of being rushed and eating unhealthy foods full of fat. Plus because I made the meals in advance I had lots of time to prepare meals for my family and sit down with them at mealtimes..with my own special foods. Eating 'on time' was a bit of a challenge because I'm not used to eating 6 meals a day. I now look forward to those little meals and my stomach is so full before I can finish all the foods. Even though I know I'm supposed to eat everything I never did make it. THE PROS This meal plan taught me: *To discover new vegetables and they are healthier and tastier to steam. *To discover new spices and found balsamic vinegar and love it, Mrs Dash table blend is awesome. * To drink lots of water throughout the day. * knowing I'm reparing the damage I've done over the years and being happier that I am healthier. * got my children interested in my varieties of veggies and they now love them also. (children and steamed veggies? never thought I'd see the day) * My husband wants to try it for himself. THE CONS *I hated the turkey patties. I know they would have tasted better with ketchup and if I couldn't have that as a dipping sauce that I couldn't even go there. *I couldn't eat 'greens' without some sort of tasty dressing..so never ate them either. It was better to do without. *It is hard not to break my bad habit of snacking after dinner. But I survived it by having 1/2 cup or 1/2 more grapefruit. The recipe with spenda and cinnamon is dee-lish! Also the rice pudding is amazing. In the end I have learned to switch up meals. If I don't want egg whites in the morning I eat chicken. Then have my egg whites in rice pudding for lunch. I figure as long as I get everything in during the day this can be accomplished otherwise it gets boring. I'm going to keep going until I reach my goal. I am looking forward to having a baked potato again but instead of a big one will settle for 4 small creamer potatoes. Its all about compromise. 2 days before I got started with the plan as I was busy reading this book I was thinking? Gawd Almighty! I was so excited I wanted to start right away. Thinking I had 2 more days of unhealthy eating made me sick. We are going on vacation next week. We will get a hotel room with a kitchen. I am preparing all my meals before we go and will eat them all week. I know it can be done. This book is the best yet because it really does work if you are committed enough to stick with it. I love the fact that everything is listed and the right amounts. It's really dummy proof. I had no problem finding all the foods in my local supermarket.

Best Diet Plan Ever
I picked up the book to see if this diet would work. It took three days before it kicked in and then after seven more days I lost five pounds. The following week I lost another four pounds. I kept following the diet for a total of six months and eventually I lost 60 pounds. I'm a 49 year-old man, 5'9", I went from 220 to 160 pounds in six months. I've kept off the weight now for about two more months so so far so good... After thirty pounds in I bought Michael Thurman's exercise book and added that - I had hit a plateau - combining the exercise with the diet got me past 190 to lose the other thirty pounds. I never thought I'd lose this much weight! My asthma has improved - the doctor is cutting down my medication dose - my back problems have improved, and I'm in good shape now, with lots of energy. I look forward every morning now to get up and spend the 30 minutes in the gym (it's the highlight of my day) and don't miss all those fatty foods and pasta and stuff. It really is a change of eating lifestyle that you have to adjust to for life. You don't have to keep just to the strict diet here once you get going. The point is to follow the principle: identify your body type then find the right mix of foods to eat and eat five meals a day. You have to make the five meals a new way that you will eat forever. This is what I mean by a lifestyle change but once you commit it is easy. You can find everything you want going out to restaurants and cooking, just no more gluten, no more dairy, no more sugar (once you are maintenance you can splurge once a week but not while you are losing). If you are creative with cooking there are lots of great things you can do with chicken and fish. I eat Mexican, Indian, Chinese, California cuisine all the time. But this diet has convinced me that eating gluten, dairy, starchy vegitables, salt, and sugar is what makes americans so fat. We don't need any of that stuff. Society will beat you down and try to force you to eat this but stand firm: hold to the diet, don't give in to potatoes, pastas, breads. You don't need it, this diet has restored my body to what it should be in a healthy state.

It works, not fun or easy, but it works
I stuck to it, and cut out all the salt and sugar and drank all the water and I lost 10 pounds in 5 days actually. I read all the reviews here about the book and yes I agree with some that say that any diet if stuck to will work. With this one however I was not hungry, I was not left guessing what to eat and I had no questions about what to do. It works plain and simple. I am now doing his 6 week body makeover and so far I have lost 25 more pounds and I am learning about portion control, what to eat, when to eat, how much, etc. I honestly don't miss the salt, but then I am not a salt fiend and there are enough sugar substitutes that I am okay. The weight pretty much melts off with this diet. Its amazing. Not easy, but it works and alot of other things have not worked for me. I reccomend it if you are serious and can stick to an eating plan. My blood pressure has also improved and people at work have noticed a difference.

I lost 6lbs in 5 day!
I've been experimenting with Keto and Intermittant Fasting for several months without much weight loss, and then happened to stumble on a Michael Thurmond body sculpting DVD at a second hand store. Since the DVD workout was exciting and doable, I googled him and found his book and learned that his program is not complicated and it works! I lost 6 lbs in 5 days and learned how to eat nutritious foods and keep the weight off. I love the simplicity of cooking food in advance and having it ready to "grab and go" unexpectedly if needed. I also recommend the "Makeover America Cookbook" for additional approved delicious recipes! I no longer order takeout and chose to assemble healthy meals and exercise at home! This program is fantastic! The book states that the maximum days to follow the plan is 10 days for quick weight loss, but through the book I've learned how to eat well moving forward. The guidance is easy to follow, and and I reference the book frequently and can now easily explain the program to family and friends. This plan works! I ordered and received the "12 day body shaping miracle" book today and I can hardly wait to read it and get started with my body shaping journey! I will definitely stick to this program without feeling overwhelmed and miserable. This is finally the one that works for me!

Some flaws and some good info both
I read the book. He is into whole foods which I totally agree with. However, he lost me when his recipes said to add Splenda to alot of stuff and ok'd things like diet soda as long as it's sodium free. Even though FDA approved, Splenda used to be sugar but the chemical changes made to it make it some sort of chlorine bleach (check out [...] website for some truths on this hideous sweetner). It isn't safe and it doesn't help you lose weight unless you are a sugar freak....in that case, cutting out sugar altogether will help you drop weight instantly. I will use some of his points but disagree with many. I read and study lots of nutrition stuff and do suffer with that premenopausal pooch. I think if you want to be no fat/no curve/boyish, perhaps all of his suggestions are ok. However, no olive oil? Come on. Now then, he is very clear that this plan is a 6 day only (10 day max) and you will keep weight off. However, that is only if you continue to eat extremely low fat, no sodium and ultimately low calorie (this program is) which long term is not necessarily healthy. The kudos he gets is that he stresses low glycemic and alot of veggies. He also stresses eating lots of greens (collards, turnip, etc) but with nary a drop of oil or flavor other than water and saltless spice and lemon juice sounds like a pucker waiting to happen. I will incorporate some of his ideas as I can do anything for 6 days but I will omit any artificial sweetners as they are not necessary nor healthy and I will allow a little olive and/or fish oil. Instead, I would go back to Ultrametabolism by Dr. Mark Hyman. He puts health first and weight loss follows but is heavy into supplements. I think a combo of these two programs would be good.

WOW!
So I started the 6 day body makeover exactly to plan from this book and I'm on day 3 and have lost 6 lbs already! I don't have to take my diabetic medicine either because my blood sugars have been great, however I've been closely monitoring so I don't go too low. I am surprised the 6 Week Body Makeover books and such aren't available anymore since this is a great way to lose! I understand Michael Thurmond has past, however his information is true! I went on E-bay and purchased a used planner for my body type. I'm going to move to that once the 6 days are up. I've followed a keto/low carb diet for almost all my life and had lost a little however once you find out what your body type is from this books information, you are like gobsmacked because all this time I've been eating red meat and dairy and the best for my body type is chicken and fish, no red meat, no dairy. I'm interested in finding out more success with this so I will keep you posted. I'm also off salt which has made a huge difference in my blood pressure stats. I am so over the yo-yo diets and not getting anywhere and so I am willing to sacrifice salt and yes, my red meat if this makes me healthier and lose the weight. I have been feeling great and I do drink the 100 oz of water it says to and then some. I haven't really craved diet soda which is also a good thing. The reviews on Amazon really help me determine if something is good or not and trust me, this is a good thing.

Singing Praises!
I have to say...WOW. I'd give this book ten stars if I could. This is one of the most amazing things I've ever encountered. The surprising thing is that nothing in it is particularly revolutionary--it's stuff I've always known, but just never really GOT. Processed foods, sugar, salt, etc...not good for you. Duh, we all know this, but somehow just having it all set down in a nice, neat, no-nonsense fashion did the trick. I lost eight pounds in six days (not quite enough for a whole size for me, but a substantial loss), my husband lost nine (we did the plan together), and when the six days were over, we had no problem adapting the eating plan to continue losing weight at a slower pace. I started the plan on Sunday, April 9, and lost eight pounds by Saturday, April 15. It's now May 4, and I have lost another seven pounds for a total of fifteen. Fifteen pounds in a month! And I'm not hungry, not fatigued, not even BORED with this diet. I'm in heaven. The ONLY critique I have on this diet isn't even really a complaint for me, but I could see how others might have a hard time with it: the food prep. Since you eat so frequently, you really do have to take a day or two and prepare all the food ahead of time. For me, it was no problem; I absolutely love to cook, and a whole day of trying out new recipes was an exciting challenge instead of a chore, but others who don't like to spend the day in the kitchen might find it tedious. And the food...one reviewer said it was "bland," but, with all due respect, I think maybe he/she might have just accidentally picked some of the less-exciting recipes. The Indian marinade for poultry? Stunning. And the lemon-cilantro fish filets are incredible. Plus there are quite a few salt free seasonings and marinades out there, though you might have to search a bit; they don't jump out at you, but once you know where they are...bingo. My eating habits have changed; my exercise habits have changed; heck, my whole mindset about food, weight, and discipline...it's all changed. It sounds crazy, and maybe this diet isn't for everyone, but it's certainly for me. I've made more progress in a month than I have in the past year, and I expect to reach my goal weight by the end of the summer. I never thought I'd be so happy to have seen an infomercial in my life!

Achieving real results !!
This is the third time that I have used Michael, he is especially good to use if you have that all important do and an all important outfit to slink into. I have been on a exercise and nutrition regime since the beginning of the year and wanted to slot this 6 day program into my schedule, using the full principles outlined in Michael's books that I didn't 100% follow on the previous 2 occasions. You do a 10 minute questionaire to establish what type of body shape you are, there are 5 types in the book, you will be either an A, B, C, D or E body type. From there you follow the plan for that body type, it lists what meats you can have an in what quantity, what fruit and veg you can have and also what type of carbohydrates are best suited to your body shape. Using the book on this occasions I made sure that I marinated the meat and fish the night before so that they were succulent and ready to be cooked the following day, Michael even gives you some marinade recipes to use, but you can feel free to come up with your own versions using spices, herbs, lemon or lime juice even a splash of Balsamic Vinegar. But absolutely no fat can be used when cooking, so steeping, broiling, baking, poaching, steaming and dry frying are your very adequate alternative. I then also used his recommended exercise plan by using my Strider that has been very handy for drying clothing over the years but I haven't actually physically been using it. You then exercise at 50 - 65% of your maximum heart rate, (Michael explains how this can be calculated), for 20,30,45 or 60 minutes depending on your fitness level. You need to check at regular intervals to ensure you are working hard enough and determine if you need to slow down or speed up. I decided to invest in a heart rate monitor watch which I will continue to use. I entered all my details in so I hear an audible beep if my heart rate is too low or too high. After 6 days I am 6 and a half pounds lighter and feel esctatic about it. Michael says you could lose up to 10 pounds. I am happy with my results as it has given me a great jump start, I will continue on now to the next phase of my healthy regime.

Really works
My friends and family were a bit dismissive of this diet, not believing it would work. In 6 days I did lose 4lbs, but more importantly without ever feeling hungry. I found it a bit difficult to cut out fats completely, but enjoyed all the steak, vegetables and fruit. Since coming off the diet I have endeavoured to stick to the portion sizes and I am still drinking lots of water and getting complements for great skin. You need to continue with the exercise regime, but as this ISN'T a 'no pain no gain' system that is relatively easy. It is always good to know that whenever special events like Christmas or the summer holidays are coming up, you can always re-visit the book if you have completely fallen off the healthy eating wagon. I would strongly recommend this book as it not only works, but helps you to sort out your eating habits and lifestyle afterwards without ever starving.

excellent diet and great advise. it works!!!!
Excellent book highly recommended. The problem is it's not sustainable for long periods of time, but it definitely works if you need a quick fix, if you're going on holiday, if you stick to the diet strictly it will definitely work for you
