Great replacement!
I bought it for a replacement of the original one were the hinge broke due to normal wear over the years. I assume the old one was installed when my house was made over 40 years ago. It was a perfect fit and easy to replace the old one taking me about 5 minutes. Looks wonderful and it does not slip around at all! I would expect it to last another 40 years.

Commode seat with metal attachment
I was sick of our potty seats breaking at the back where it attaches and when you sat down they slid. This one with the metal attachments is awesome!!!! Easy to install and very sturdy! No more sliding. Great buy! Great price as well!

I like this product but have had the same problem more than once.
I don't like cheap, plastic toilet seats, so I really liked this solid seat with a wood core. The hinges have been reliable and they stay put. I've had two, but both of them have lost one of the plastic stops that keep the seat ring off the porcelain rim. I didn't notice the missing stops initially, until the first seat actually broke from the uneven weight, and now the replacement seat has lost a stop which must have been flushed because I can't find it. It doesn't get much of a workout as the seat is only lifted when I clean the bowl. I wonder if I can just replace the stop?

Perfect combination of features, but hard to find
I purchased a different toilet seat from my local plumbing supply store for double the price of this Mayfair seat, and I despised it. The Mayfair is superior in every way. Here’s how (Mayfair vs other):1) Wood vs Plastic: The Mayfair wood seat is much sturdier than the plastic. I sit on the closed lid to put on socks, etc. and the plastic lid always felt like it was going to collapse. Unfortunately, plastic seats greatly outnumber wood seats in toilet seat inventories.2) Instant close vs Slow close: This is a personal preference, but I dislike slow close because I put the lid down before flushing and I don’t like waiting 15 seconds for the lid to slow close before I can flush. It’s very difficult to find toilet seats that aren’t slow close these days, but this Mayfair in non-slow close.3) Metal vs Plastic hinges: The metal hinges on the Mayfair are much sturdier than the plastic. Once the bolts are installed and tightened (which was easy to do), the metal hinges stay in place and don’t loosen up as the plastic ones tend to do. There are very few toilet seats made with metal hinges anymore, but this Mayfair has metal.4) Ample width vs Too narrow: The plastic seat was much narrower than the Mayfair and barely fit on the toilet bowl without sliding around, no matter how tight the bolts. The seat opening was also much narrower and not comfortable to sit on at all… ugh!It was a happy day when I replaced the pricey previous seat with the perfect Mayfair seat. Hard to believe that a mere toilet seat can be such a quality of life issue, but it is!I’m actually going to buy one or two more Mayfair seats to have on hand since there’s no guarantee they will still be in stock down the road when I need to replace one.

So far, so good.
Super easy to install. Comfortable as any other seat, but feels more solid and secure than any previous toilet seats we've purchased.

These really do stay put
This is my second purchase of this. I had to replace the other because the paint and the hinges were peeling. This was my fault. The directions said to only use water and dish soap to clean. During Covid I was using bleach, alcohol or wipes to clean. Still it held up pretty well and I NEVER had to tighten the bolts. My only problem was that because of the toilet design I had a hard time getting one bolt tightened. A socket wrench or a crescent wrench wouldn't fit in the space, so I needed plyers. This was a fault of the toilet design, not the seat. At least I won't ever have to tighten it again.

Horrible product, do not buy
I knew within 20 seconds of finishing the install that I would be ripping this piece of junk out and getting another toilet seat. This thing is awful for multiple reasons.1. The hinges have a huge amount of play and slop, which means when you sit on the seat and transfer your weight left and right, the whole seat lifts up slightly and then clunks down. This was exactly the "loose toilet seat" feeling I was trying to eliminate.2. The workmanship is atrocious. One of the screws holding the lid was not screwed in all the way. The paint is not evenly applied. The plastic parts have terrible quality as the injection molding was substandard, leaving huge amounts of flash at the parting lines. In my case this even prevented my from getting a 6 point 1/2" socket on the 1/2" plastic nut that you're supposed to tighten, without first using a knife to remove all the flash.3. The design is an embarrassment. In addition to the hinges with tons of slop we have 4 exposed Phillips head screws, which are absolutely going to catch debris and corrosion. There's also the fact that the lid only has 2 feet that contact the top surface of the bowl, rather than the 4 on better designs. Having 2 feet makes the rim much more likely to crack when leaning hard left or right, because of the longer unsupported span. The rim being made of painted wood makes it even more likely to crack, compared to better designs using polymer composites.I don't think I'm going to try to figure out how to return a toilet seat, but this is clearly $23 wasted as this product is a complete joke.

It’s a sturdy toilet seat
So my tall heavy teenagers broke the last two plastic slow-close seats I had. Just wiggling around adjusting their butt over the bowl or what- I have no idea how - but the seats would get loose and eventually break. This seat is not slow close but otherwise it is perfect. Thick and sturdy- easy to install and it hasn’t gotten loose at all the the couple months they’ve been using it. Found a winner!
