Well written book in a local case
This case was/is in my city/home. I was following the case as at the time I was studying Forensic Psychology in school and this case was really fascinating to be able to get live tweets of the first trial. The book tells the story in well written way. I listened to Nighttime podcast and heard the episodes where you discussed the case and your book. So I bought the book. You're a great writerNow there was a second trial, and he is since appealing that decision but so is the crown, so I am interested in seeing if you will do a follow up in text or some form of journalism.

Will Sandeson had so much potential had he not got into drugsI think he would have achieved his goals. He lost control and greed was his motivation he should take responsibility and give Taylor's family some place to mourn.

Interesting
This was a very realistic portrayal of a newly accepted med student becoming a convicted murderer all revolving around illicit drug dealing.

As someone who was there, I highly recommend
I covered the 2-month trial with Kayla as a freelancer for The Canadian Press and The Coast. The trial is forever burned in my memory, but reading through the book, I was amazed at some of the smaller details I had forgotten. This was an extremely complex, emotional and captivating trial. Especially for those directly involved, but also for the community at large. You could not walk down a Halifax street or go to a party without someone bringing it up.Kayla has done a fantastic job here of taking the reader through the facts of a complicated case, hitting all the right notes and bringing out all the emotions that wove their way through the ordeal. Some of the things I felt as a reporter back then are feelings I'll never forget and the author did a tremendous job bringing those out in her words. If you want a deep look into the maze of the Canadian justice system and the innocent people roped into it. If you want to read a story about what captivated an Atlantic province for the better part of a summer, read this book.
