Airline - The Complete Season 1 [DVD]

A serious, but humorous reality
We have all seen it in airports if we travel; we see people who are drunk, people who are irresponsible, and most of all people who are down right aggressive in personality.I just want to say that the airline business is, well, a business, and there are rules to follow regardless. People who try to bend the rules, whether or not they are right, or majority of the time wrong, are only wasting their time and energy. I will state a valid opinion, Southwest Airlines is no different than other airlines EXCEPT for what you get as far as meals and service. All flights, regardless of what company are overbooked, it is common knowledge that people will not show up for their flight majority of the time. Whether or not people will understand, Southwest is a great business with a practical approach to travelers who wish to save money. But enough on that.Airline is a great epic of what the men and women who work at Southwest Airline's major airports have to put up with and go through on a daily basis. The life as a customer service clerk is unforgiving if a person is unable to take distasteful commentary from patrons. Airline will humor you, make you want to go in and prove people wrong, and most of all, make you want to keep watching. It is a truly great series, and it has my highest recommendation for a good, clean laugh.

Great show!
I found out about the show from the signs at BWI (unfortunately, they weren't filming at the time I was going through the airport). Having worked in retail for a few years, I'm aware of how crazy and entitled some members of the public can get; I figured that it would be magnified in an airport setting, but you don't really see how much until watching the show. I'm sympathetic to the passengers who just seem to get the short end of the stick through no fault of their own (I've been stranded and had luggage lost myself), but I have zero sympathy for the ones who choose to make things worse on their own.My mom thinks that some of the more insane passengers are overacting for the cameras, which does make sense (then again, I've seen similar antics from people with no film crew in sight). My only "gripe" is that the DVDs don't have the original theme song...and that the rest of the series isn't out!

Entertaining... in a painful way
Southwest better hope that no publicity is bad publicity; either the passengers are trained debaters and slant the stories or Southwest is a sub-par airline.I have a feeling it's a mix.On one flight, Southwest overbooks a flight by 53 passengers, many of which must catch a cruise. They are sent on a new flight, only to be instantly forced to fly back (one women's son is accidentally on a flight without his mom)Southwest randomly denies anyone with alcohol on his/her breath, without taking a breathalizer test (unfortunately, this is legal).Southwest forces overweight passengers (customers of size) to buy an extra seat at the highest price possible because there is no obvious warning of this. The result of roudy passengers mixed with cold-hearted, crappy (though sometimes helpful) airline workers and painfully horrible situations is pure and true entertainment. Sometimes it may be painful to watch, but it's worth it, if only to make your next trip seem a little less horrific.

Good - Beware of disc 2
Love the show! But my disc 2 had the anti theft bar glued to the BACK of the disc and I was very upset. I managed to get it off but I had some playing issues. It’s okay for now and doable.

Excellent
I had never seen or even heard of this show until I somehow stumbled upon it on Amazon. After readin the above reviews, I decided that I would get it. Boy, what a great investment! Not only do I thoroughly enjoy the show, laughing so often and intrigued when I am not laughing, I am now more inclined to fly Southwest (although I do so already most of the time I do fly). Not only is it entertaining, but it is also knowledgeable in certain aspects. For those looking to go into airline customer service, being a flight attendant, or another career in the airline industry, the jobs are fully explained in the show. My only question: Is there a season 2 coming out?

This show is a scream
I laughed through most of these episodes, yet was really touched by how well Southwest employees treat their customers--even the nasty ones. These guys go above and beyond the call of duty--kudos to the guy who changed an elderly man's soiled pants and to the employees who provided the opportunity to wash and clean clothes to another man who smelled too terrible to board the plane.
