Perfect cabbage shredder.
This is a centuries-old, simple, proven Eastern European design, and it works astonishingly well. Sharp, perfectly spaced blades and sturdy wood frame. Triple blades make short work of a head of cabbage - cut it into quarters and run the pieces across the blades. Each quarter takes 15-20 seconds.***Be careful - if you do not pay attention to the task at hand or are unable to very firmly grip and hold the the vegetable, these blades will eat your fingertips and ask for more. Cut-resistant gloves are a good idea for anyone with weaker grip or prone to accidents. ***Cleaning is easy - rinse, carefully clean the blade gaps with an old toothbrush, and air dry. Do not run this through your dishwasher, and it’ll serve you for decades.

Shreds a head of cabbage in under a minute
This shredder works great. Goes through a firm, hard head of cabbage like nothing and shreds very fine.Only thing to watch for is your fingers. Be very careful with this thing as it can slice your finger tip off very easily. I toss the piece of cabbage I'm shredding way before its finished. I'd rather lose five cents of cabbage than a fingertip. A great shredder but don't be careless.

There was nothing we disliked about this product. It is very easy to use and clean. Very glad we ordered it.

This one is sharp!
This mandolin is very sharp, beware. I’ve cut myself every time I use it. It’s easy to wash. I used it to slice cabbage to make sauerkraut and feel it shreds too thin. I’ll be using a knife from now on. Not sure what I’ll use this for now. I’m afraid of it.

Quality is absolutely horrible and it's hard to clean
It does seem to work mostly. A little awkward at times but I've shredded cabbage on it and sliced cucumbers for salad. That said, the design is very good. But the quality of it is very bad. The wood is rough in places where it should have been sanded down. The blades are not smoothly sharpened. They're kind of jagged in spots. The screws holding the blades on are rusting already so they're not stainless. It would also be very dangerous to use without using some sort of cutting glove. Like taking a layer of skin off your fingers. As far as cleaning goes, it's a nightmare. Food gets stuck in certain areas and you can only get it out using a narrow object like a knife blade. Maybe if the wood was actually smooth it would rinse away easier without getting stuck, but it's not.I mostly got this to support Ukraine but I think it would be better if it was made in China.

A bit pricey for what it is.
It's a *very* simple wooden frame with 3 blades attached... It works fine, but for the price, it's just OK. It works well for cabbage... okay for onions... and I managed to force it to slice beets, but it really didn't want to. And I'm a fairly big guy, so someone less persuasive might not be able to slice something like beets. Also, if you do get this thing, I definitely recommend getting some cutting gloves. I have no idea how I didn't take a layer of skin off of my hands using it.All that being said, for making sauerkraut a slicer is pure gold... and this is one, although a bit more expensive than it should be, does the job.

One of the best cabbage shredders I have had.
One of the best cabbage shredders I have had. And I have had quite a few. If you are buying it, you probably know full well that it is not "Slaw Slicer" or "Sauerkraut Shredder" - both of these are already shredded / sliced. But it is an extremely good and effective cabbage shredder / slicer. For both slaw and sauerkraut the key, the absolute must, is to shred the cabbage FINELY (strips not more than 2-3 mm wide) and this contraption lets you do it with relative ease. Money well spent.

It's actually very good for the price
I've received it broken the screw it self was broken inside the wood . As you can see in the photo the blades should be sturdier but for this price I wasn't expecting a better quality anyhow I returned it and I'll add to the review later when I receive the new one.I've just received it again it's actually very good for this price

Pretty decent sauerkraut shredder
The first order for this shredder I received was no good. The blades were situated badly; one blade was angled out and slightly bent and grating was hard, with the protruding blade constantly breaking what should have been a smooth grating process; also, the shreds were much too thick. If not for the fact that I have two neighbours who both have this same shredder which they got in Poland, and both of theirs are really good shredders, I'd have written this shredder off. As it was, I was able to get a replacement and it is fine. Works really well. This confirmed my belief that the first shredder I received was a dud. This is a fine shredded even if it is plastic. I've used it for cabbage, courgettes, carrots so far and it does a great job. It comes with a grating glove (large). Warning, carrots will stain the plastic.

Extremely poor quality blades.
Very poor quality blades. Not the same length, holes not spaced evenly, burs on ends, metal bits left on cutting edge. (Had to try and hand file off) wood has plinters, screws and blades are not stainless steel.
