Well built, sturdy
Built well, did not fit my 2014 honda pilot. I had to route out an additional 2 inches on both sides to allow them to adjust small enough. Now they go on without a problem. And my two kayaks xan sit side by side. This tjing grips like an ape. I dont forsee any future issues.

Great bars!
One of the end caps was broken when I received them. The ends are black, not red like in the photos. I decided not to exchange them and with a little crazy glue and Gorilla brand black tape, it's as good as new. I also used the tape to seal all openings and holes instead of using the included rubber slide inserts. These bars fit perfectly and look great on my 2014 4Runner SR5 Premium. Very easy to install. It seems like I do have to tighten the clamps every week or so, but no big deal. Top speed so far with these bars installed is around 75mph, and no whistle or air turbulence at all. I think taping every single opening helped out a lot. Even with the broken end cap, and inaccurate end cap color, I'm willing to give 5 stars. I can't imagine paying double, even triple the cost for more "high end" brands.

So Far, So Good!
One little part (one of the red end caps) was broken when I received this. But, I used some glue and stuck it back together and it seems fine for the long-haul. Aside from that, they look VERY cool on my Jeep and fit up there pretty easily too. I like the simplicity of the locks and the rugged look of these. Also, they seem pretty quiet so far, even up to 65mph. I can occasionally hear a little whistle if the wind gusts by in a weird direction, but really I'd hardly know I even have them. I plan to just leave them on, though I'll see if the mpg takes a big hit. I am locking a cargo box up there this weekend and giving these their first real test, but I am feeling confident these will handle the load.

Meh
While these cross bars were almost as described (the end caps are black, not red - which is a good thing), I found them to cause a significant amount of wind noise. Some is, of course, to be expected, but even after putting the rubber inserts into the underside of the bars, there was a loud whistling sound. I was never able to test their actual functionality with carrying cargo as I returned them almost immediately due to the aforementioned noise.

WARNING! These are not intended to extend too far beyond your rails.
The towers will only slide so far inward. I purchased the 58" version to use on a 2010 Forester (intending for ~10" of overhang on each side to allow transport of multiple kayaks on a Malone Stax Pro2), but the towers wouldn't slide to a narrow-enough position to allow them to mount to my rails. I'm sure the 50" version would work perfect, and I'm definitely a fan of Malone products, but I need the extra width, so these are being returned and I will be purchasing a different brand instead. ...was hoping to use these tomorrow morning too...

Universal does not mean universal
I bought this product for my Subaru Forester 2012. The product instructions on amazon did not say anything about minimum inside distance between your side rails to fit the product. I bought the 58 inch ones to go pick up a canoe I bought on Craig's List, and wanted a big enough size for the canoe and a kayak. I paid for one day shipping so I could pick it up over Labor Day holiday. It arrived on time, but when I went to put it on my Forester, I found the smallest inside width of the side rails it would accommodate was 39.25 inches, and my Forester's inside measurement is 38.25 inches. This needs to be shown here on Amazon. I thought universal meant universal. The Malone instructions in the package say "Never assume a cross bar will fit. Always refer to Malone's fit guide for proper, correct and approved vehicle fit." A little too late to tell me that now. Where is the link to their proper fit guide at the sales site? As for quality, the only thing universal about it is it seems like cheap Chinese made junk. The plastic tightening handles are flimsy. What is a person to do when everything is cheap made Chinese junk? I guess I will check their proper fit guide to see if the 50 inch size will have the proper inside dimensions for my Forester and exchange the 58 inch for the 50 inch. When everything today is made like crap, I guess you have to buy what is for sale. Update: I ordered the 50 inch instead and returned the 58 inch which amazon quickly refunded. 5 stars for amazon. It fit fine on my Subaru forester, and rides nicely until about 75 mph when you can hear some whistling. I also bought the Malone big foot canoe pads to put on the rack. I then ran into the problem where the pads would slide out far enough on the front rack to accommodate the canoe, but would not slide out far enough on the back rail. The problem is that the Subaru side rails become narrower toward the back end, and the Malone auto rack has a wide attachment point to fit the rails, and does not allow the big foot pads to slide out far enough for my 17 foot canoe on the back rail. Thus I ended up using the pads to hold the canoe on the front rail, but not on the back rail.
