This is a very basic soil thermometer. Although designed primarily for worm farming, I use it for basic lawn management. For example, in the spring when the ground temp reaches 55 degrees, I know it's time to apply a preemergent to stop weeds from blooming. The thermometer is easy to read, and the accuracy seems to correspond with other thermometers I have around the area. It is fairly rugged so it should last a long time. It has a small rubber cap on the end to cover the tip when not in use.

It does what it's supposed to do. No complaints at all. It's very accurate, I even tested it against kitchen thermometers and it's spot on. Very helpful to monitor soil conditions for my picky indoor fruit tree.

Out of the box the soil thermometer seems to be good quality and working. Home air temp is 70 and the thermometer is reading 70. It was wrapped in double bubble wrap and boxed. Amazon packed it in their paper bag but the box was not bent or damaged. I will be using this to check soil temperatures for fertilizer applications. Happy with my purchase.

I have used this to monitor the soil in my tomato bed. I have been pleased thus far. It is easy to read and use. Insert it underneath a tomato plant to avoid the sun giving you a false reading. If it stays above eighty shade your tomato plants.

We bought this to check the soil temp in our yard prior to seeding the lawn in the Spring. It is sturdy, accurate and easy to use. It stores away easily in the box it came in and is ready for any soil temp need you have. Also can be used to check temps on compost. Great product!

Ordered in error needed soil thermometer slow to respond to ground temp. This review is more negative about Amazon search for products you type in search for soil thermometer and it lists all types of thermometers. I might search women yellow pants for example and it gives all women’s pants. Easy to misorder

Put the thermometer in and after a day the screen fogged up and will not clear.

Broke first time when I inserted it into the soil, when I pulled it up the probe dislocated - too bad I didn't try it while I could return it so now I'm stuck with a broken expensive trinket. It looked like it's working fine, but why so flimsy :(
