It does what it is supposed to with out leaving bits of itself behing like cheap knockoffs.
It's simple. This is a stone Mortar and Pesto. It does what it's supposed to do. No, chipping, no dust or residue from grinding. It's well made. And, is large enough to not cause a mess. If, I had to. I'd buy it again. And, if I have a friend or family member that would like one. I'd buy it as a gift, in a heart beat. This is a great tool for the kitchen.

fantastic
Fantastic mortar and pestle. Obviously works very well. I mainly use it in Indian cooking to grind up garlic, chilli and spices. I love the rugged stone appearance - personally I'm not a fan of a polished outside. Easy to clean, dries quick too. I like the nonslip bottom as well.Its heavy of course (its literally stone) but dont let that bother you.

Seasoning activity makes you want to get an electric spice grinder
The person who wrote the “seasoning” instructions must have stock in electronic spice grinder manufacturing. It took me over an hour to grind the handful of rice and it uses infrequently used muscles. It feels real solid with good manufacturing and packaging. The provided “rubber” base is really nice for keeping the bowl from moving while in use and protecting our counters.

Beautiful Mortar - Black looks exquisite on the counter
Beautiful Mortar. Like so much better than the gray ones sitting on my counter. I don't think it's the mortars fault, but trying to powder hard Hawthorne berries didn't quite work out as I had hoped. It definitely got them crushed, but more like cracked pepper than a powder consistency. Will use for other things of course.
