SanDisk Extreme PRO CFexpress Card Reader USB-C USB 3.1 Gen2 compatible with CFexpress Type B format

Love this card reader! After many issues with CFexpess cards constantly crashing my mac, a colleague recommended I try the SanDisk and I have never had an issue with any of my cards since! It might not be the fastest available but the amount of time it saves me by not having any more issues makes it worth every penny!

I have often bought cheaper no name card readers and to be honest, they do the job. However, when I got my large file size DSLR I went for a proper Sandisk card reader and I really noticed the difference with the Cf cards. Of course, then when I changed my camera to a mirrorless system they used a different card (again Nikon, come on, enough of this) and I had to buy this CFexpress reader. I'm suitable impressed with the speed of transfer again, and the build quality is nice although it is bit heavier and bulkier than many which might be important to those who regularly carry theirs about. Personally, I think it's worth that.

I paired this SanDisk card reader with my CF Express Type B card which came with my Nikon Z9 camera body. Reader only works with Type B card only! There are other readers which will read more than one type of cards. Beware that reader does get hot 🔥 and not sure this will affect the long term life of the product. In term of the size: it's almost similar to a mouse you use on a small laptop so quite big really! I have a quite a few XQD cards which this reader will not read even though it's the same size and form factor.

I bought a cheap "no-name" brand and could not get it working on 5 computers. Using the SanDisk, plugged it into a windows machine and worked first time! This is what it's all about - true plug n play.

Forced into buying after cheaper (Lexar) messed my files up, so go for this it really has not let me down

Le lecteur en lui-même marche bien. Il est rapide, fiable et solide. Le câble en revanche, je m'en procurerais un autre (mini USB-C 3.1 Gen2) car j'ai eu de meilleurs résultats en faisant des comparatifs avec d'autres câbles.

I bought a second one of these to take with me on Safaris in Africa, as well as a trip to Costa Rica. I had previously purchased one to transfer files to my computer when I got my Canon R5. It works well and the transfer speeds seem more than fast enough. I bought a second one before my big trips as a backup in case one failed or got broken or lost, but never had any issues. For the two safaris, I brought my notebook computer and would transfer my files to external SSD drives by hooking one of these to one port and the SSD to another port. Transfers are quick and easy just using Windows file manager. For my trip to Costa Rica I decided I wasn't going to lug around my heavy laptop and its big power supply, so I bought a little Anker USB-C hub with 4 ports and did the transfers using my Samsung phone as the interface. That worked well, again hooking up the card reader to one port and the SSD drive to another port. At first I tried backing up to two SSD drives at the same time, but the speed dropped way down. When I only connected one SSD drive, the transfers were super fast... maybe even faster than with my notebook computer.

Works fine also with Sony cards
