My husband put it together completely by himself while I was at work as a surprise for me. It can be assembled by one person and is easy to put together because of the instructions and how clearly pieces were labeled. We did screw it into the wall to stabilize it since it’s a larger shelf, but it looks great, and we’ve gotten lots of compliments. It’s very sturdy as it’s holding a large number of heavier biographies, cookbooks, and classics.We’ve purchased at least 5 bookshelves from Amazon, and this one has lived up to our expectations.

The bookshelf is very nice. It's heavy, sturdy and looks good. BUT... it arrived damaged. I tried calling the company to see about sending a replacement part. 5 calls, left 4 messages and no response. The email address does not work either. Luckily, the damaged part does not really affect the function of the bookshelf. There were also a couple small parts missing but I was able to find replacements at Lowes. I really like the bookshelf but very disappointed with the company.followup: My requests for help were sent to the manufacturer themselves, per the assembly instructions. After I posted a negative review (above) the seller immediately responded. Please note that the seller was not responsible for the damage and replied back quickly, so I have absolutely no problems with them! Highly recommend.

A terrific bookcase. It seems to made from some kind of reinforced particle board - stronger than the basic stuff, but not quite MDF (much less solid wood). All the pieces fit together well, and I can't make the shelves bend at all when I push on them. At 7 feet high, it's quite an imposing structure, and yet it was fairly easy to put together.The one downside is the back panel. It's the typical super-thin wood that bookcase backs are made of, but in this case it's actually four individual pieces that are taped together at the factory. They don't quite fit together, so you will probably have small gaps (I know I do). In fact, the original back I got was warped, possibly from the weather on the day of shipping. Don't bother pulling the tape off to try to get a better fit - I couldn't.One more thing of note - the company support is terrific. I called them about the warped back panel, and upon confirming my order number, they mailed me a new back for free - no questions asked! And there's no automated system when you call their toll-free number - it goes straight to someone who can help. Great stuff!

The bookcases arrived in multiple, very heavy boxes. Two pieces had broken in transit but the company was very responsive and replaced them. When built, they are beautiful and just what I was looking for.

We ordered two bookcases. The Concepts in Wood: Twelve Shelf Double Bookcase 84"H in Cherry Finish sold by BisonOffice. Although the item was delivered about 10 days late, we were kept informed via email about the delays, so we didn't mind especially with a worldwide pandemic. The bookcases were easy to install and look great! However, we found that on one of the bookcase the top and bottom "apron" was about 2" short. Although we were able to assemble the bookcase and it still looked good, we wanted it to be perfect. We took pictures and sent them to BisonOffice. We received an immediate response, and replacement “aprons” were sent within days. Outstanding customer service! We're very pleased with the bookcases - they're sturdy and look great. Would definitely recommend.

The product materials state: "Materials: Genuine wood veneers and solid wood molding,10 step polyurethane cherry finish" and in another section "Materials: wood and engineered wood". There is no solid wood in this product, and engineered wood usually refers to mdf, not the chipboard-like stuff this is made from. Moldings are not solid wood; they are the same veneer-covered chipboard. Even the little 1x1 supports for the top and bottom moldings are chipboard with a natural finish (to maybe somehow give you the impression that the pieces that show were stained, but the undersides were left natural??). The backing is 1-foot wide strips of veneer-covered cardboard-like material (again, not as described, "engineered wood back panel that is more durable than the cardboard on most ready to assemble bookcases"). The backing strips are held together with what appears to be clear packing tape. It's a shame the materials are so cheap because the engineering is nicely done and it was easy to put together. I'm not returning it only because it is already assembled and VERY heavy. I had to take the boxes apart in the driveway, and carry it into the house piece-by-piece, and not about to repeat the process in reverse.

This appeared to be a high quality shelf for the money but ours arrived damaged.We called the included customer service number morning and afternoon everyday for a week trying to get a replacement for the broken part but never got a live person to talk to. We have left several messages and have gotten no response or call back.It's a shame we need to return this due to the lack of any customer service.The packages are very heavy and it was not easy to carry down to our basement.Now we get to carry it back upstairs to return it.We will never buy from this manufacturer again.

Great unit! There were several pieces that were supposed to be labeled that were not, which made assembly take longer than it needed to, but with some careful picture scrying, and a little patience we figured it out just fine. My only real complaint is the color. I ordered the "cherry". It is very, very dark and its so red its almost purple in color. I mean, really purple! So bear that in mind.The unit itself is good quality, and I'm not worried that the shelves will bow. The shelves are particle board, but very thick and the front lip is real wood, as is the rest of the trim, and the sides. The back is in panels, that are connected together with some kind of tape stuff, but once everything is put together, and screwed and nailed, you would never know. All in all, I really love it!
