Explorer 3X Stove

We were a little skeptical when ordering these for our canning process but I must say that when they arrived they were just what we wanted. These are very sturdy and will hold 3 large, 7 quarts each, jars. We also bought a 2 burner to heat up water to fill the jars so both of these made a hug impact on the amount of time it took to can. We did sweet corn and potatoes so far. We will do sweet potatoes and canned meat next. We can put in our large garage so we do it heat up our house. The height is perfect and the width is just what is needed. Only thing I would change is to make the grill depth larger for my large water bath canner. It work great. I would definitely recommend this product!!!

I bought this to start our food services group in Civil Air Patrol. We respond to provide food in the field for Search and Rescue opperations and field training excerices. I have used this as prime cooking unit along with the 2 burner griddle to feed breakfast(pancakes, eggs, and sausage) and various foods for dinner to groups as large as 125. It packs well. I do wish the set screws that came with it were all steel, 2 came with plastic thumb screw caps broken off. I replaced them at hardwaire store easly. A longer supply hose would also be nice, I had a 6 foot extension made for mine by local gas supply dealer. Strong burners, even in cold weather it does well. Cooks fast and griddle is awesome, cooks evenly. I highly recomend this unit, its rugged and rock steady! We are getting a second one to augment our ability to cook for larger numbers. I have at least 300+ hours on mine with no issues other than listed above.

I am more than thrilled with this stove! I fell in love with a 2 burner that I borrowed from a friend for a group camping trip and the 3 burner is even better. It makes the small 2 burner tabletop campfire stoves look like a joke. It can boil a huge pot of water in a snap or be turned down low to cook eggs perfectly. Can't wait to do my canning on it. Lightweight enough for me to easily move around by myself. I do wish it was a little taller, but I am 6'3" and say that about everything. Can't wait to get some accessories for it! The grill box and pizza oven are pretty tempting. I think we could easily replace out grill at home with this, but we would need some type of storage box for all the accessories that aren't in use.

Camp Chef makes excellent stoves. The quality of this thing is top notch. However, the Explorer series is Camp Chef's entry level, and being that, it is very barebone. I also went to Costco and got the Camp Chef Denali Pro 3X and it is a world different from this Explorer 3X. I will break down Camp Chef's 2-burner and 3-burner models so that others will get a better understanding. You get the same 30k BTU burners on all the models, except the Outdoorsman that gets 60k BTU burners. For the models (look like they got their name from Ford and Chevy/GM SUV lines) it breaks down like this. The EX or the Explorer Series. You get the burners, the clover grate, windshield, and stands. The Explorer Series has 14" length and so is compatible only with 14" accessories. The Yukon Series (YK) is the Explorer Series with a burner box and changed out the clover grate for stainless steel ones. This helps catch food from falling to the ground as well as blocks wind from blowing the burners. The Tahoe/Expedition/Denali or TB Series are 16" length and are all the same. It's differentiated by the accessories that it comes with. With 16" length you can get 16" accessories, including the really nice stainless steel 2-burner grill box. All 3 models come with built-in igniters. The Tahoe is the base model without accessories. The Expedition comes with a really nice 2-burner wide griddle. The Denali is sold at Costco and it comes with a single burner griddle with carrying case and leg levelers. The Pro Series. The 2-burner is 14" length while the 3-burner is 16" length. They feature fold out legs and fold out shelves. I don't know how compact the fold out legs or how sturdy the side shelves are on the Pro Series. But my safe bet is on getting the Denali Pro 3X from Costco for $170. The cost to add to the Explorer igniters to each burner, a single griddle with carrying case, and leg levelers would put the Explorer (even at Amazon great price) at around $280. And still the Explorer wouldn't have a burner box nor is it compatible with the nice stainless steel grill box. For that price I can have the Denali Pro 3X with the 2-burner stainless steel bbq box on one end and the included single griddle filling out the other end.

We love this gas stove! We use it for canning. 3 large water bath canners fit on it and all the mess is outside. Highly recommended!

Amazing product very convenient and quality product. Had a few concerns but the customer support was helpful as well. I would highly recommend buying this product.

Replaced our table top propane grill for this one for our motorhome. Should have done that years ago. Since we stay at one campground for weeks, the added weight doesn't matter. This is so much more versatile.
