Peace of Mind
High quality cord. Bluewater ropes are good to go. Expensive but works great. VT are the way.

This is the way to go
If you're looking for a rappel backup or a progress capture on a hauling system, this is the way to go. SO much better than a standard 3-wrap prusik. Super light and extremely versatile - can be tied in a half dozen different ways, depending on what you're familiar with. I'd personally recommend learning the "XT prusik" version and using that configuration.

A must have item in your climbing kit!!
Very durable and flexible for 8mm size. Video on Bluewater site showed many different ways to tie for rope grabbing capabilities. VT was main use and it worked flawlessly - held great but was easy to release for rappel with great control.

Great Quality and Value
I purchased this Prusik as part of my required equipment for work that my employer doesn’t provide. BlueWater is a well known maker of high quality climbing ropes and this Prusik is top notch.

Tree Climber Approved
I used the Bluewater Ropes VT Prusik for tree work. I use different climbing lines for different situations; but I typically use 8mm Bee-Line eye to eye tails/ prusiks for the climbing system. However, I have used an Aramid prusik in the past and I was very impressed. This VT Prusik was no exception.I have been using it for several weeks now and and it has not even begun to glaze. Of course I don't make a habit of burning out of tree canopies either. But that time includes setting chokers on a half dozen crane removals and the prusik remains flawless. The outer layer is soft yet strong and of course resilient to high heat. It knots easily and maintains its shape well. It grips the climbing line like a vice yet releases easily with moderate downward force. I should mention that I do not use the VT knot. Instead I swap between the Michoacan and the Distel and have excellent results.Pros:-Resilient to high heat (keep it clean)-Large Eye holes (easily accepts carabiner)Cons:The heat shrink portion (at the eyes) is very long and makes tying difficult. As a matter of fact, I had trouble completing the VT knot. But this is just a nuisance and not a deal breaker.

Bombproof
Used this as a safety backup when I was spurring up a dead pine to place a rope for pull down in the right direction. Had a little trouble with my mechanical prusick jamming and used this to rappel down. Had spurs for backup and I could have figured out what made the jam, but the VT was a nice touch. It will take your full weight (I weigh about 180 with all my climbing gear) and the valdotrain tresse know releases easily under load and grabs instantly.
