COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED...
... with the resulting sound! We purchased our first computer in 1998; with it a 3-piece Boston Acoustics Media Theater sound system. In time the 3-piece system ended up in the garage amplifying whatever was on the radio or Walkman. The ravages of weather and time took its toll and the subwoofer fell apart... the cone surround disintegrated. I decided to salvage it if the cost of doing so was reasonable. The manual stated that the subwoofer was a 6.5" speaker. After much research I ordered this 5.25" speaker. I made a mount for it then screwed ith over the original aperture. The resulting sound is at least as good as the original speaker and the system is now sparkling clean and installed in my work area in the basement. My wife came down as I was testing it and marveled at the sound... bass is clear, distinct and more than ample. I've been an avid audiophile for at least 60 years and I'm tickled to have redeemed this system. It's not perfect but, for its intended purpose, it's worth the $22 investment!

Turned out nice for my purposes
I'm not the type of audiophile who likes to 'rock' (or bump as the kids say) the neighborhood. My old BMW 740's rear deck woofers had been shot out long ago by one or more of the 6 previous owners. So, I chose to repair some of the more pressing mechanical problems and put off replacing the rear deck woofers for later. The OEM speakers from BMW dealers are frightfully expensive (as are mostly everything from them). After seeing a number of others in online forums talk about using these as woofer replacements, I thought I would give them a try. The impedance matches the original speakers (8 ohms) and they fit fairly well in the OEM deck box. The mounting holes are a bit off so you will have to re-drill the holes. Installing in the cramped space of the rear deck is frustrating at times so you might want to go the full route and remove the speaker mounting box so you can do a better job of it. I couldn't tell which wire was positive (BMW's schematics don't drill down this far) so I chose to hook them all up the same; I was either wrong or right.Wow, what a difference! Pink Floyd's re-mastered Dark Side of the Moon is downright ethereal now.! Norah Jones "Come away with me" will make you want run away with her right then (if the wife doesn't mind). When Frank Sinatra sings "Summer Wind", you're walking on the beach!Of course if you are into cranking up the Hip Hop and bumpin' the neighborhood, these are not going to deliver the effect you're looking for. If however, you're listening to the OEM stereo on an auto that was the epitome of German luxury 17 years ago, these replacement speakers do the job very adequately.

Speakers life
I've had the speaker for about 3 days and when i turn it on this morning it played one song then it just started popping and then when i went to play it. the speaker wouldn't play no where close to the volume it use to. I don't know if this is a problem on my end or there's. but if it is a problem with the speaker manufacturing. This product is not worth the price.

Not too bad
These sound pretty amazing for the price. I Bought these, and some matching tweeters and a crossover to rebuild a set of bookshelf speakers. Had to mount them from the outside in because I bought them too big BUT These are an Upgrade to the original to be honest. With matching tweeters and the new crossover OMG what a big huge difference in sound quality.

Read the negative reviews they aren't lying
I found these speakers recommended on a BMW forum as great alternatives to replace the woofers in the e38 7 series which are also 8 ohm but prone to deterioration over time.Installed them without issue and when I went to test them out at very low volume I can already tell they were no where close to being acceptable. Distortion at low volume forget even turning it up which made it worse. I even tried turning all mid and low bass down with no avail. I was going to keep them since they at least look nice, but for the price I paid for 4 of them it wasn't worth it.Do yourself a favor and just remove the sound bar if you are looking to replace the speakers in a e38 and buy a subwoofer. 1 12 inch powered isn't much more than 4 of these and it will sound a whole lot better.

Very nice speaker
Very nice speaker bought it to replace the bass in my monkey speaker. Sounds really good for back speakers for surround.

not 5 1/4"
for sure do NOT measure 5 1/4", while they seem decently built, can for sure tell they are cheaply made. Do not fit in my application and appears im stuck with them
