Great price for a 7 color display
Great display for an ESP32. Updating is fairly slow, but I’m using it for weather and calendar stuff, so I only change the screen about once an hour. Having so many colors of eInk is really fun.

Tricky to program but very impressive when working!
After a TON of trial and error attempting to load a bitmap I figured out that each byte of data sent to the display encodes not one but TWO pixels worth of horizontal data! Once that was figured out, I was able to send bitmaps in color and get a great looking result!

Did not work for me
I followed the epd sample build instructions on raspberry pi4 but other than some debug messages about going High and Low there was nothing on the display. After days of troubleshooting I tried with an Arduino board and it worked. This device is not compatible with Raspberry Pi, at least not with the waveshare provided sample code for both C and Python. Waveshare should be clear in description that this display is not compatible with Raspberry Pi or at least that they don't support it and remove the faulty instructions from their web side for Raspberry Pi.

Software lacking!
Nice, well-built display. Unfortunately, the ‘demo’ software sucks. There’s a bunch of examples, but for other models. The arduino software for this model just displays a small color image. Trying to adapt the example code for drawing lines, circles, etc on this display so far has been unsuccessful.

Great display, only downside is 30 second refresh time
The media could not be loaded. This is a great display. Wide viewing angle, low power (if you need that), and the Arduino library from the Waveshare website made it easy to program. The only downside is it does take a literal 30 seconds to update the display, as you can see from my video. My application was to monitor PurpleAir sensors through their API, and the flooding level of a nearby creek through the USGS website, and display it. PA updates every 10 minutes, and for the creek level, the most frequent is every 15 minutes, though if the creek level is below 8' I only sample every four hours.I'm driving it with a TinyPico using Arduino. Ideally I'd love a ESP-IDF-native library as well, but haven't taken the time to port it over. The ability to display multiple colors is helpful.
