Romans: Grace, Truth, and Redemption (MacArthur Bible Studies)

I think of Romans like the tallest rock on the mountain that is the Bible. The other rocks are equally important, but Romans is so obvious and laid out bare for all to see. The truth made plain and still it blows your mind.How can God love such a wretched woman like me? Those gospels were preserved in the Dead Sea Scrolls—the Bible is as true today as the day it was written. Matt 24:35Only one of 12 disciples was not put to death for his faith. Why? Why be murdered for saying a dead guy is alive? Unless He was alive, and IS alive, and is interceding now for His children at the right hand of the Father.We can be loved by God because we’re covered by the righteousness of Christ. “Righteousness comes by God's grace alone, and faith in Christ alone brings redemption.” Turn from your sin. Repent. Accept the free gift. It is free to you, but it wasn’t free for Him. You have been bought with a price. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is God.

Amazing study, highly recommend.

John MacArthur is an insightful Bible scholar and teacher. This book did not disappoint. It is helpful in delving into the Book of Romans and understanding what the Holy Spirit is leading me to understand. It makes you think and discover for yourself, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

This Author, John MacArthur, really gives the reader a very through study of the Book 📖 of Romans. It is 5 ⭐️. He gives a historical perspective and background, a Bibical chapter is printed as to the particular Chater that’s to be studied with footnotes on the side of the page to further your understanding of what is being printed to further your overall understanding of the verse you are studying. A section to “ Go Deeper” section to help you compare or to better understand the Chapter is also in the study, followed by thought providing questions on the texted studied. John MacArthur’s Studies of the Books of the Bible are my favorite for he does an excellent job of helping the reader learn about the books of the Bible. I highly recommend this author's works.

The book is written well and has discussion questions. I like that the passages from Romans are already in the book (NKJV). The questions are not super difficult, although in my opinion the book really only scratches the surface and leaves the student needing to look more in depth at other books and commentaries.My major beef with all of the MacArthur study guides is the lack of questions focused on the actual letter or book that is being studied. For example, out of the 10 questions in a given chapter only four of them pertain to the actual home text. The rest are called "going deeper" in which he looks at a small portion of a different book or letter (from scripture) and then a "truth for today" section in which he has a short quotation from a prominent author or theologian and pulls the remaining 6 questions from these sources. In my opinion these are just filler questions that he could have done away with and asked more insightful questions about the home text.

This is for you if you don’t want to read a bunch of life experiences by middle-aged women who think they’re experts on the Bible. I watch John MacArthur on YouTube and he is a wise and noble pastor. my friend and I are doing this book and we really enjoy it!!

My men's bible study used this book and we were very happy with the content. Have tried many formats for our bible study and this is by far the best! We are now doing Romans!

Excellent and biblical

The book is basically the chapters of Romans reprinted. The discussion questions are very useless and vague. There are few “definitions “ on the sides of the pages but they are not helpful at all. Very juvenile.
