More than just a summer fling cliche
Claudine (Claude) Henry is soon going to graduate and move to college in New York from Ohio. She thinks she has everything planned out but does she? When her parents tell her they are getting a divorce she does not see it coming. She is devastated. And to top of her misery, she and mother need to spend their summer away on a lonely island with a handful of inhabitants in Georgia. Ruining all of her summer plans. Claude cannot wait for summer to pass any faster so she can get out of the island but that was until she met Jeremiah Crew. Does she think of him as just a summer fling? Or will Jeremiah worm his way into her heart? This book is so good. I would be lying if I didn't say this book wasn't a summer fling cliche but it also is so much much more. All the characters in the book are relatable. Claude's character is one of my favorites. She is a typical teenager, overdramatic, and full of hope. Jeremiah Crew, on the other hand, is so different he is way mature for his age yet he is like such a typical teenager at times. Apart from these two each of the characters was so well written and they gave the whole story so much depth. The phase of life where we suddenly turn from children to adults and where we realize that life isn't just all sunshine and rainbows and we need to think more maturely is portrayed so well by Niven. It's the best aspect of this book which I could relate to a lot and I loved it a lot. This book also has such a beautifully flawed relationship and also the understanding and finding on oneself amidst all the chaos in life. This book also made me want to go on that island in Georgia to find my own Jeremiah Crew so that I can have my adventures with him like collecting shark teeth, sitting on the beach in the night, watching fireflies light the night. Also, this book is inspired by the author's life which gives this book a much more realistic touch.

Surely a page turner one with a writing style so much to be inspired from
Breathless is a real life story of the author Jennifer Niven. About how she met her first love when she was exiled to a remote island Georgia with her mother. So the story starts with her plans to go on a trip with her best friend and enjoying the last summer before college. But unfortunately, her father ruins it by his decision to leave them. And they are sent to an island where she meets Jeremiah Crew. Now Miah is a mysterious and free spirited boy who is capable of making art out of bones. And there starts their bonding which unknowingly turns into a beautiful chemistry. They know it's only one summer they have and they decide to live it like never before without talking about the end and without falling in love, before they realise it's hard to deny when you are so in love and harder to accept the fact that you're in love but are not destined to be together at the end.Jennifer Niven has some magic in her words!! Real magic. Not the kind we see magicians do. Something more real. That have the power to make or break your life. The way she writes is phenomenal. This book can tell you it's Jennifer Niven and only her who can create magic like the way she does. She has my heart ever since I've read her All The Bright Places and now reading this has not dissapointed me a bit and I'm glad I read it.The language is so subtle and artistic that is in itself a huge inspiration to writers out there. The character of Claude is of an aspiring writer who is trying to feel things and spill them into pages.Overall, Breathless is a light hearted romance combined with friendship, love, heartbreaks and destiny.

Read for the island set up n Jeremiah Crew
I liked the Island part with Jeremiah Crew n found the first few chapters kinda boring. Though there was not much of a character development in the girl, I liked the set up of the story n it made me long for a vacation in an island with no internet. Overall a nice read for young adults although I didn't like the inclusion of LGBTQ+ community character just for the sake of inclusion as we don't read much into that character and references to kanken backpacks and Harry styles music, I get they're trying to make it relatable but I couldn't stop cringing.

Encompasses everything about falling in love for the first time!
Coming of age story about Claudine, aka Claude. Contains explicit sexual content, heads up to readers that may be bothered.Breathless encompasses everything wonderful, stressful and everything in between and around falling in love for the first time. Claude and her mother travel to an island where they have family roots. They plan on staying for the summer to give Claude’s father a break after he decided he wants a divorce. Angry and annoyed, Claude and her mother arrive on the secluded island with very little internet service. She has to adjust to not being able to text her friends and father back home. She meets the summer young-adult workers and becomes friends with most of them. One in particular catches her eye, Jeremiah Crew (Miah). They hang out and eventually become more than friends. During this summer, Claude and Miah mature, and together they help each other deal with their personal lives and the problems they’re both dealing with. Miah teaches Claude how to ride a bike and shares his island adventures with her. Claude helps Miah talk about his personal life. They have a great and memorable summer together but dread the day they have to say goodbye when it ends. A beautiful story with unique characters that grow in depth and maturity together. A perfect romance for a summer read, 5 stars!

Genius writing
Love her books. You should totally read all of them. Little criticism: every plot of a book for the age of 12 to 25 is mainly the same. Always girl and boy as main characters. Still love it

Full of emotion and heart
A beautiful story of being lost and found, adapting to change, heartbreak, confusion, falling in love, friendship, taking chances and first love over one unforgettable summer.❤️Breathless tells the story of Claude Henry during her last summer before college. She has her future all planned out and a summer road trip with her friend Saz until the floor is pulled out from underneath her feet. Claude is shipped off to a remote Georgia island with her Mum. No cell reception, no friends and nothing to do ...cut off from her old life. Then she meets the intriguing Jeremiah Crewe. What unfolds over the next 28 days together makes her question everything about her old life and discover love.❤️Breathless is a gorgeous slow burn. Once Claude hits the breathtaking island that’s when, for me, the story really takes off. A coming of age, first love, sex positive story.Claude grows over the summer it’s unfiltered, honest and open.❤️The writing shines. It feel genuine and authentic and comes from a personal place in Jennifer’s heart. Finding shark teeth, mud boots, creeks that become rivers, fireflies and bare feet. This was as much a personal love story as it was Claude and Jeremiah’s.❤️The setting of the island the sea, the sand and the tranquility .... I felt like I was fully transported right there in the gorgeous summer sun and it was glorious and left me in dreamy summer haze.❤️I also loved how the history of the island and Claudes ancestors played a part in her relationship with her Mum. And I adored the friendship between Claude and Saz so much especially when their friendship is put to the test. I actually think I would love a Saz story!❤️Breathless is the perfect summer read or anytime of year when you want to feel that summer sun. It’s full of emotion and heart and you will lose yourself in its beauty.❤️

brought me back to my teenage years and growing up on the beach
This book was recommended by a friend, I am well beyond my youth but truly enjoyed reading Jennifer Niven‘s book. It took me back and brought back feelings and memories that I had not experienced for many many years. Mrs. Niven writes beautifully and with so much emotion. I am so glad I read this book!
