Worked for a day or two
I have a pendant light on my porch. In the winter, birds like to perch on it to get out of the cold. They poop on my porch. I put a spikey think up there, and it deterred the birds for one whole day, when it decided he'd rather sit on spikes than be out on a tree branch somewhere. So on the recommendation of a friend, I bought a roll of this stuff, which is supposed to flutter and reflect light and make a little noise and scare them away. It worked for three days, till the bird decided that it wasn't going to harm him, and now he's back. I am at my wit's end. Luckily, this is just a winter problem. They roost elsewhere in the summer, but still. I even bought some of those round mirrored things that twirl in the wind. It works till the sun goes down. Sigh!

Only thing that is keeping the dang geese away
Yes, I am obsessed with keeping those disgusting feces filled Canadian geese out of my backyard! Have you read how many diseases you can get from stepping in then tracking their waste into your home?? Our house also backs up to a basin, that when we get a good rain, fills up like a lake for a few days. That brings the geese and a LOT of them. I've tried nerf shooters, water guns, reflective pinwheels...they laughed in my face. Then I put this up in our backyard to make a little "fence". As soon as they saw this come out, they headed in the opposite direction and I haven't seen them in a few days now. Granted it looks strange in the backyard. Like we had a party and the streamers blew away and got caught in the trees. But I don't care what it looks like if it'll keep those gross birds away!! I was worried it might scare off the birds that use the bird feeder in our yard but it has not. Yes, if recommend this!

Pigeons have moved elsewhere!
A few weeks ago, I began to notice pigeons gathering on my third-floor balcony. The usual mess followed. After a bit of research, I decided that this tape was the easiest and cheapest way to rehome said birds. I tied several streamers to the balcony railing where the wind picks them up. In the three days since, I have seen just one pigeon.I am prepared to move to more extreme measures, but I'm hoping that the tape does the trick permanently.

Bird Scare Tape
The refective ability of the tape is fine, but occaisonally the tape will fray on the end or break off. This is not a big problem, because it only will happen after sustained wind over a period of a day or more, and not always. It also may be in part due to the way the tape is fastened. For example, I use it on the railing of my terrace and it has been quite effective in keeping pigeons away. Not only the reflections, which are quite good, but the random movement of the tape, IMO, helps keep the birds away. In fastening it to the railing I simply looped it around the railing and tied it, as I would tie a necktie. This gives it a bit of "stand-off' from the railing and has been secure, but it may be that this method allows the edges of the tape to contact each other in such a way that they wear faster than other methods would engender.I am experimenting wth other methods of fastening the tape and I have found that a bit of clear packing tape(like the kind you secure packages for mailing with) on the ends does help with fraying. All this not withstanding however, I must credit this vendor with an excellent and speedy response to my inquiries. They also, very generously (and unexpectedly) offered a refund for my purchase, as the product may have not lived up to all my expectations. This product DID mostly live up to my expectations and is probably the best "bird scare" tape available; IMO far superior to the one (1) mil tape that is usually marketed.Until a "SUPER-Heavy Duty" tape (of more than three (3) mils thickness) is made available in the marketplace, I will highly recommend this product. AND their superior and responsive Customer Service.I DID NOT get this as a "free sample" for reviewing it. I paid for it, like I (and most of us) do for everything else and so all my reviews are always independent and honest, regardless of being negative or positive.
