Has any female used this for thinning hair?

I answered in another question but i will repost here - I have female pattern hair loss and it helps tremendously, effective almost overnight. I take 2 capsules at a time, twice a day. It has stopped my otherwise insane hair fallout. If i lower the dose to 1 capsule twice a day, the effect becomes less noticeable, so I will keep taking 4 capsules every day. As far as Minoxidil goes, 2% doesn't work on me and 5% works but gives horrible black facial hair, and what's worse, the effect will eventually wear off and one will experience the inevitable apocalyptic shedding. I'd suggest stick with Low Level Laser Light and Microneedling for hair regrowth and this herb for existing hair retaining.

What is the difference between stinging nettle root and stinging nettle root extract, are they the same thing?

The root has more of the material that you want -- Silicia (not to be confused with Silica). It's mainly known from homeopathy where it is diluted hundreds of times and may produce a product that has no molecules of silicia in it. However, you probably want stinging nettle root with 1%-10% silicia. It's a shame there's no standards for stinging nettle's level of silicia and other active ingredients. But from personal experience, I would say about half of the products will do what you want, providing you double or triple the amounts. You'll have to experiment with that. Stinging Nettle is non-toxic in this form, so you're not going to hurt yourself. Check out the NCBI database or Evidence dot com, which analyzes herbal and supplement chemistry. There are probably competitors to Evidence dot com. Best of luck!

It will stay grainy. It will not dissolve. This product is great at aleaving allergy symptoms.
