what is this made out of?

1. NaCl and MgCl are still salts that can be irritating to pet paws. 2. Just because a company is run by a family means very little to actual SAFETY to pets or any other creatures. that is marketing.

Has anyone had issues with the product clumping in the package over time?

I just used the last of a jug I bought early winter last year and it was not clumped at all. I stored it in my laundry room. Perhaps some moisture got to it? I haven't had any issues.

is this safe for wood decks?

It's developed for concrete surfaces mainly... wood decks are pretty sensitive. So, we wouldn't want to guarantee anything. However, we have had customers tell us they use it on their wooden decks and love it!
