Pretty good
I tried this book for Kindergarten after using and really liking A Reason for Handwriting A by the same company. The book is okay. I like the 5 day a week layout; however on some of the days I think the spelling activities are just okay. For instance, there’s an activity to circle the picture of the cookie for every word spelled correctly. It’s kind of lame. But then there are really great activities that are much more interactive. Even with everything I’ve said above, then I’ll probably still continue with this book for the upcoming 1st grade homeschool year.

I dont usually leave amazon reviews, but this but this book is great. My homeschooled kindergardener has learned a ton! Plus, there is no fighting me on getting this part of her schoolwork done. The pages are colorful and fun.

Easy to Teach and Engaging
I love the story based lessons and how there is character taught alongside weekly spelling words. Each week this character lesson is based off of scripture. Both my kids enjoy listening to the story, talking through the story review questions and doing the journaling. My first grader so please the spelling work as part of her lessons each week. Overall a good curriculum and laid out easily enough so that I can open and teach that days lesson.

Lots of busy work, which is a good thing for some of us
I've been homeschooling my kids for 4 years. My older kids are in 7th, 6th and 4th grades. And then I have a tag along 1st grader. My youngest often gets forgotten and left to his own devices while I spend time one on one with the older kids. This has worked ok through Kindergarten, but I need more work for him to occupy himself in good ways while I spend time with older kids. I'm not a big fan of busy work or curriculums meant to be done in a classroom setting. That's what this is. BUT it works perfectly for my needs right now. He can easily do many of the activities himself, which gives him added confidence, too.The workbook is fun with different kinds of activities. The first part is tabbed yellow, and there are about 6 weeks worth of ABC recognition activities. These are super easy busy work - again, great for a kid who loves workbooks or for a younger sibling that needs busy work. They're super easy but build confidence. Then in the "meat" of the book are 29 lessons. There's 4-5 lessons, then a review for a total of 29 weeks. In the teacher manual, there's a story that one of my older kids can read to my 1st grader (bonus - they're both learning and helping each other!). The workbook is colorful and keeps my 6 year old's attention. He's able to do much of it without a lot of assistance.I LOVE that it's Biblical. They're learning Bible verses and Biblical concepts while doing spelling. There is some spiral-ness to this - as mentioned above, the activities review previous lesson's words at every scheduled review. Each week starts with a pretest and ends with a test with many various activitieson the days in between. Some activties are in writing and other encourage large motor skills (write with sidewalk chalk, draw in sand, put letters on paper and cut them all out, etc)I'm not sure it'll be a good fit for my family in the upper grades but it's exactly what we need for my 1st grader right now! My son loves it, I love it, it's a big win-win.

Learn to Spell and Deepen the Faith!
A Reason For- Spelling Level A Set Complete Curriculum is great! This set shipped well with minimal packaging. The books had no damage and emitted no weird smells, odors, or showed signs of previously being used.Do note this is a full curriculum and not just a workbook on spelling practice and skills. I appreciate the full 34 lessons on phonics that is included before the start of the Spelling lessons to make sure your child is ready to move on.Hands down, it is very well put together. The activities throughout vary and you can get a feel of how well your child is learning through the pre-test and the weekly review before starting the next section. There are 30 lessons total ( each unit contains 4 weekly lessons) and each lesson is several pages long with several activities to complete. I like there are stories (literature connection) to read to my child that tie in Christian values and lessons so they are rooted in God's Word with their schooling in the Teachers Guide. The student book is not overly busy or so wordy a child would easily become discouraged or distracted.I will update as we jump deeper into the curriculum but for now, I am liking what I am seeing.
