Great gadget!
I had to have the super off my building snake the drain numerous times because the water pressure is very high and the bathtub drain was not allowing drainage. First it would drain slowly, ultimately it almost didn’t drain at all. Call the super; super says you have hair closing the drain. I said no; I use a strainer to catch the hair. He insisted its hair. Impasse. Finally I decided to look for a more efficient strainer and I happen upon this gizmo. I was very suspicious of this because it was advertised as one of the “as seen on tv” type things. I figure some of those are good but it’s a real crapshoot. I come to see it was on Shark Tank, so that was intriguing. Was it a failure or a success? Finally I decided it’s only about $10 and if it doesn’t work I’ll send it back.It arrives. I unwrap it and study the various instructions and pics on the packaging. OK, looks interesting. Installing it was as easy as pushing it into the tub drain, 5 seconds tops. It hits bottom at a point that leaves a 1/2” gap all the way around the drain. Hmmm…interesting. Take a shower, it drains. Rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat. Pull it out and check it. It is full of hair! So I take the hair off with a rolled up piece of toilet paper, drop it in the toilet flush it down. Replace the tub shroom.Bottom line this thing works just as advertised. It just works!I notice it’s got concentric rows of holes which must create a vortex and wraps the hair around it before it can go down and get stuck in a pipe bend somewhere deep in the wall where only a snake can go.Only one caveat: it makes a loud gurgling noise when the water drains as you shower. Slightly annoying; not a deal breaker.I realize the photos of hair are gross but they show the gizmo’s effectiveness. That’s hair that, over time, would clog the drain.I love this thing and I haven’t seen the super since I put it in. Recommended. Buy it!

Does the trick, but not a fan
I originally bought a different style of this product, same brand. I quickly realized tbat it worked very well for catching hair, but was difficult to clean due to the bottom rubber detaching.I stumbled across this one, which i think is a better design. It catches hair exceptionally well. The large bottom rubber piece is attached (one piece). This certainly does help when removing hair, but unfortunately its still cumbersome. I attribite this to having exceptionally long hair that wraps around the unit several times.Simple drain covers can be cleaned easily one handed, but this certainly requires two hands. The drain covers are not as effective at catching hair. I guess its exchanged a pro for a con and a con for a pro.I also have found that the top piece seems to detach. I havent actually tried to detach it in fear of ripping or stretching the attachment holes. When remobing from the drain it has not detached, but almost feels as if it could.

Must have if your girl has hair extensions and you're on septic
Without this thing my drain would regularly be clogged with long blonde hair. It's pretty nice to not have to worry. Catches pretty well everything, even lawn clippings and whatnot from when I come in after yardwork. Doesn't last forever as the silicone piece eventually gets clogged with gunk and warps. I've noticed I've had to clean it a lot more often lately so I'm just going to buy a new one. Got a solid year out of its use (and it still works if you clean it regularly). I'll probably stick to this guy even when I'm not on septic anymore because I'll bet it'll save me quite a bit on drano.

I do like this thing!
It looks like part of the tub's fixtures and I like that. It works very well at catching the hair and I don't have to constantly be cleaning it out like I did with our ones we had before this. Once a week I pull it out and clean it. I do have a little trouble getting the hair off of it, but it's worth it that I don't have to do it daily. It's a keeper for me!

Metal one is best
I have long curly hair and this is the only one for this tub shape that actually works. Trust me, I've tried them all. I accidentally ordered the silicone one this time when we moved, definitely recommend the metal one. Silicone gets yucky and can't properly get clean. The metal you can scrub or soak with tilex and get back to clean.

Sleek and effective
If you hate having to clean hair out of the drain, buy this product ASAP! It looks like a regular drain but with the best kept secret of cleanliness underneath

Does cath hair, must be cleaned frequently to avoid water backup
It does catch hair. Easy to install and clean. It must be cleaned often because it stops the flow of water with the slightest amount of hair. In the big picture, it's doing the job it's designed to do.

Chrome plating wears off and reveals copper underneath within 2 uses!? Disappointing.
Love the concept! Easy to put in, squishes to fit my awkward sized drain. Went to work trapping hair immediately! But I would not recommend the chrome color! After two uses, the chrome plating has begun to wear off from where the water splashes on it, and it shows the copper color underneath. Not cool, especially since I bought it specifically to match the chrome fixtures! Had I known it would be showing wear this soon, I would've gone with the cheaper grey or clear option instead of paying more for a finish that simply doesn't last. Disappointing. I should've gone with a stainless steel one from another brand. Granted, I do have hard water that is prone to leaving water marks but I thought it would last longer than 2 uses before looking this bad.

Works well but doesn't fit
I must start by saying I think this is a really good product, well made and collects hair effectively. However, it just doesn't fit in my bath. The instructions say it should stick up about half an inch above the plughole, unfortunately my plughole is not deep enough and the metal grille inside it is not removable so the device sticks up a lot more, at least an inch. I am continuing to use it and it does collect the hair, but the water does not drain very well. I would suggest, before you buy this, to measure how deep your plughole is to see if it will fit.

It catches hair..
We tried a couple of 'over the plughole' type hair catchers and they were a bit of hit and miss - sometimes they worked but not often and not well. So ordered this one - a bit more expensive as it has the chrome top but it finally arrived (from America, I believe) and fits out standard plug hole no problem. And it catches hair. My wife has long hair and uses brushes when she shampoos her hair, meaning she pulls a bit out each day! This gizmo collects it all, I may have to open up a cushion business, stuffed with human hair...

Great little device
Put in our shower drain which gets clogged with hair frequently. Had to slightly modify the grip for the removable trap in the drain to allow the TubShroom to sit lower in the drain. The filter catches hair effectively and prevents it getting into the drains or clogging the U bend, which would normally require hooking out with a piece of wire. The accumulated hair needs removal every few showers, but it’s quick and easy to do. The hair can then be binned.Very pleased with this device and wish I’d discovered it earlier.
