The drive is not good at all. It keeps cutting off and you have to restart the drive.

Works great for storing video/pictures. I used it for game emulation for a long time with no downsides. Great top-end usability, had it at 4/5 capacity and had no slow-down or latency. No noise. Grams in weight. Can be optimized for all number of file types.

I'd give it no stars if possible, as an utter waste of money. I wanted a small SSD so I could give one of my kids some of my video collection for viewing on their smart TV, and assumed that a name brand such as HP was worth the investment. It isn't-- this drive was buggy from the start, and when I took it back and tried to reformat it it simply won't respond to that using Windows 10 or 11 (two different PCs). I even tried using a 3rd party application to format-- no luck. Unfortunately I didn't get it back from them until just recently so I am way past the return period on this one. Last time I get taken in by the HP brand. I've no problem with WD and (usually) Buffalo SSD drives.

Excellent HD. Sturdy and Reliable. I am a writer, and wanted an external HD to backup (all) of my work during the past 25 years. This HD is not only compact, it is fast, reliable, and will make an excellent source for backup in the years to come. This is my second HP HD which will serve as a redundant backup device. HD comes with the black cable and adapter shown below the device. However, I purchased the silver cable above which doesn't need an adapter. Excellent Device! Worth every penny I paid. I've been using this for 6 months with marvelous success. It is significantly faster than a flash drive it replaced. I'm actually using this SSD as a cache drive for an on-line application. Attached to a USB 3.0 port, it runs amazingly well. Various applications, running on a Windows-10 system, run much faster on this SSD than they did on flash drives. This portable SSD is also wonderful for moving large files between one computer and another. After 6 months of daily use, it has shown no signs of wearing out. I'm quite happy with it!

The 500gb solid state drive fits in the palm of your hand and absolutely worked fantastic with my new 2023 MacBook Air. The files transferred so quick and so easily. The reason for the four star review is the USB-c connection and adapter that came with the drive would not work on my new macbook but I had a two-sided USB-C cable that worked perfectly. I highly recommend this drive and especially for the price.

I leave one of these attached to each of my Windows computers and use it for file history backup, which is perhaps outmoded because OneDrive also backs up my files. However, having a local backup gives me peace of mind and this little hard drive makes the process convenient. Arguably a high capacity flash drive could also be used for this purpose, but I have found this portable SSD to be more stable and harder to lose than flash drives. It is large enough to find but small enough not to be intrusive when it is a fixture on your desk.
