I like it, and so does my 12 year old son. Looks cool, I appreciate the somewhat rustic handmade quality, nice paint job. That said, I wanted a 14” board, something a little bigger than what we already had, and this is barely over 12” in total, with a small playing surface due to the rank and file labels. I can’t go over 3 stars for blatant false advertising, even though I’m going to keep it as a “fancy travel board.” Buyer beware, nice board, but not cheap, and not 14.”

This chess set looks beautiful, but is definitely light as other reviewers have mentioned. It feels made from balsa wood similar to the snap and build airplanes with the rubber band propeller. The lacquer is strong smelling, but only for the first day ish out of the packaging then it goes away. The felt on the bottom of the pieces is my biggest complaint because the glue is excessive and some pieces feel like they will scratch the board. Additionally the felt is wrinkled on some pieces which makes them a little unstable and not covering the entire bottom. The felt inside the box for storage is plastic coated with a thin layer of felt, but the pieces are very secure and since it’s plastic it’s flexible enough to hold these light pieces. All in all it’s a cheaper feeling set from the glass set we came from, but we love the unique look and light feel.

Great little chess set. I wanted something portable and this is a nice size for that. The pieces store nicely inside the board sandwiched in a green plastic flocked insert. I like the really shiny clear lacquer these are painted with and the apple green coupled with the bright natural wood color is very attractive in person.The pieces could probably have been sanded more and there is a little glue visible where the opposite color parts are glued on the Polish queens but nothing significant enough to downgrade the star rating imo, you won't notice while playing with it and it displays nicely too.It doesn't come with extra queens, but that is normal for these kinds of sets.Mine shipped from Slovenia which i thought was charming, it arrived inside of a week to the States.

Unique quality, velvet piece storage is not very secure in the tray may have to add my own glue to hold and feels a bit flimsy, but all pieces fit snuggly without falling out. I went by the inches in the description of the size of the board of 14”x14”, and was disappointed when the board was only 12”x12” but if I would have thought about 35cm x 35cm I would have realized they were showing the wrong inches and it should only be a 12”x12”

Very nice! Has a home made vibe but pieces fall out of their slots easily. Appreciate that the board has the rows and columns labeled for easy chess notation.

For the price this set is pretty good but not great. I have mixed feelings. The style is really nice, unique looking. But the details are a little off. Some of the pieces are imperfectly cut, roughly made. Overall I like this for me but wouldn’t give it as a gift.

Beautiful chess set made in Slovenia. All wood and hand made quality set. My 15 year old and I have been playing since we got it.
