I use it to grind whole sardines. Works great!
I purchased this grinder because I needed to grind whole sardines for my Golden Retriever who is a raw fed dog. Prior to this I had considered buying the Kitchenaid grinder attachment for home use to make meatballs but I felt like I didn't make meatballs often enough to justify buying my own grinder and the attachment isn't cheap. Then along came our dog who needs fish as part of her complete and balanced raw diet and she didn't take to it whole or cut up. I resorted to using my food processor to chop up the fish but that usually resulted in making gooey fish paste which was hard to clean up.While researching grinders, I knew the Kitchenaid attachment wasn't going to be strong enough to grind whole fish. I considered a manual grinder as a cheaper option and nearly bought one until I found this electric grinder. Price was awesome for a first electric grinder and I figured if it didn't work out with the fish I could still make meatballs. This thing is a DREAM. So far I've processed 5 pounds worth of whole sardines (head, scales, guts and all!). Each one is about 4 to 5 inches which I cut in half to feed into the grinder. I was done grinding in less than 10 minutes. Clean up was a snap. The grinding attachment comes completely apart and everything rinsed clean and I finished up with some soapy, warm water. One word of advice, don't let the grinding plates air dry. I did that the first time I washed all the parts and little rust spots developed on the plates. Now I hand dry them and rub with a little mineral oil before putting them away. No rust again so far.As I said, this is my first electric grinder. I can't say how it would compare to more expensive or higher rated models but I bought this to grind whole sardines and it does this job quite well. I'm very happy with it and it's definitely money well spent!

Works good on my homemade cat food using thighs with bones
Pros: Works good for my thighs that I use for my homemade cat food, grinding bones and all.Con: Turns black and can get on food so I rubbed oil on it first and it worked fine. Got all over my hands but like I said the oil helps. Don't know why it does that and if anyone knows another answer to keeping the black stuff down, please let me know. Its just that its a great price and does a wonderful job or else I would have knocked down the stars.

Very good beginner grinder
It arrived a little broken. The motor is only held in the housing by 2 tabs, and had come out during shipping and one of the fan blades on the cooling fan broke off. I was able to take it apart and put the motor back in the tabs and get it to work. Im not sure if it is normal or not but the first time I washed the parts they turned real dark. They look like a dull metal now, not that shiny SS look.It works pretty good. The price was pretty good compared to other grinders I looked at. It works pretty well for Deer and Beef. I haven't used the Sausages stuffer adaptor yet but it looks like all the others and im sure it works just fine.

CHECK THE RETURN POLICY!!!
I bought this piece of junk grinder because my kitchen aid grinder was malfunctioning. I had the best that's why I can compareit to this one. It grounded 1/2 lb no problem (chicken) then the meat kept on getting stucked in the grinder. To get it unstuckis a lot of work too and you won't feel like grinding anymore to have the same thing happen again. The worst part is that if you want to return this item, AMAZON will not stand behind you, because it's a third party.Amazon filed an A-Z guarantee claim and came back to me that I have to return the product before a creditcan be issued. Who would want to pay $30 to get a $60.00 credit? I kept this product but will donate it to thethrift shop. Very dissatisfied with AMAZON!!! I WILL NOT BUY FROM AMAZON AGAIN!! The description of this product from my own experience is deceptive.

Poor quality coating
I am giving this a low review score based on the poor quality finish to metal surfaces. The coating comes off on your hands and turns them black. The finish appears to be a nickel coated or very poor stainless steel. Will also discolor the meat when grinding. Perhaps I got a lemon? Product does a good enough job with the actual grinding

Great for homemade pet food!
I bought this grinder because it had pretty good reviews and it was a good price. I used it to grind a chicken for homemade raw cat food. It was able to grind the entire chicken, including bones. Some of the bigger pieces of bone got stuck in the grinding place, but they were easy to take out and throw away. I found the entire machine easy to use and easy to clean. I do have small hands, but with a thin cleaning brush, it would be easy for anyone to clean. The plates are a nice metal and come in 3 sizes. I used the largest size first, then put the ground chicken back through the smallest size. 5 stars and two paws up!

Plunger wrong size. Won't stuff a stocking.
This grinder does great on the first pass, but grinding anything a second time is a huge pain. The plunger is the wrong size for the hopper and ground meat just mushes back out the top. Don't even think about stuffing sausage. Because the plunger is the wrong size, not only does it take forever, but you can only stuff about 18" at a time. I ended up buying a separate stuffer.
