I bought this because of the ability to change the sharpening angle and because of good reviews. I'm of the school that says a dull knife is a dangerous one. My wife is not as attuned to this as I am. When it arrived I immediately started using it and sharpened all the kitchen knives - and warned my wife that I had done so. I'm very pleased with the sharpening job on all the knives that had undamaged edges. Let's just say that the smaller (paring) knives that are used a lot are often washed in the dishwasher, which will destroy the edge over time. Those damaged knives were the only ones that this sharpener couldn't do much for. The only way I can improve them much is to go to the garage and break out the old oilstones for a long sharpening project. The undamaged knives sharpened quickly, and I'm very pleased with the edge resulting! We have a coupe of other old kitchen sharpeners, but this one is superior. For the price I think it's a nice value, and very effective.

My husband is a fanatic about having sharp knives. This sharpener is his answer. You can position the sharpener for different blade types, and it puts a lasting sharpness on all of them. It did a fantastic job on my scissors. It is very light and easy to use. If instructions are followed, it is very safe to use. Except for the blades, it is made mostly of plastic. It is inexpensive but works like a very expensive sharpener. We love it!

I had an older Chef's Choice sharpener for 3 years that was finally wearing out. I ordered a new Chef's Choice 4643 and this one because it has a scissors sharpener and a selectable blade angle. I have a number knives that I keep sharp, some are less expensive Japanese knives that work well, but many are more expensive Japanese and German knives. Although I like the size and weight of this sharpener and it is easy to use, I wasn't happy with the way the blades slide through the sharpening slot. The instructions say to pull the blade through the sharpening slot10-15 times. Having set the sharpener to the preferred angle, the knives did not easily slide on the sharpening slot. Then knives seemed to get caught in the slot and did not move smoothly. The polishing slot worked better, but the knives were not sharpened, and even duller than when I started. Die hard that I am, I did try sharpening some of the knives again in case I did something wrong. The knives finally did get sharpened, but it took multiple tries. I also tried the scissors sharpener which was the primary reason I bought this sharpener. It did help to sharpen the scissors, but I believe I could find a dedicated scissors sharpener for less than $50. I decided to return this sharpener and stay with the Chef's Choice sharpener that lasts for at least 3 years for my knives.

Took it out of the box and sharpened a Ozark Trail knife right away. A few pulls, and it was sharper than my hunting knives. Every house should have one in their house.

Easy-to-use and puts a nice sharp edge on my kitchen knives. Very happy with this.

I have had every sharpener known to man I think and they all fall short, way short, of this one. It's a bit expensive but worth it.

This is a great item. It is as good as they say it is.

The product came quickly. I used the sharpener on a couple dull knives I had to my amazement the knives were very sharp and do as advertised. I'll be keeping this.
